The GenBank accession numbers for 16S rRNA, recA, dnaK, thrC and nifH genes of strain
23
MSSRFBL1T are JQ230000, KC189949, KC189950, KC189951 and KC189952, respectively.
24
A comparison of the total rhizobiaceae family, 16S rRNA, recA, dnaK, thrC, polar lipids and
25
hopanoids are available as supplementary material with the online version of this paper.

Taxonomic position of a strain MSSRFBL1T isolated from chickpea rhizosphere soil from
27
Kannivadi, India was determined. Strain MSSRFBL1T forms bluish black colonies, stains Gram-
28
negative, motile, aerobic, capable of fixing dinitrogen, oxidase negative and catalase positive. Q-10
29
was the major respiratory quinone. Major fatty acids of strain MSSRFBL1T were C18:1ω7c and
30
C19:0cycloω8c. Minor amounts of C18:0, C12:0, C14:03OH, C18:03OH, C16:0, C16:1ω6c/C16:1ω7c,
31
C17:0iso3OH, C18:0 and C20:1ω7c were also present. Polar lipids include diphosphatidylglycerol,
32
phosphatidylethanolamine;
33
unidentified
34
bishomohopanediol, adenosylhopane, and 2β- methyl bacteriohopanetetrol are the major hopanoids
35
of strain MSSRFBL1T. The genomic G+C content was 71 mol %. EzTaxon-e based BLAST
36
analysis of 16S rRNA gene indicated its highest similarity with Ensifer adhaerens LMG20216T
37
(97.3 %) and other members of the genus Ensifer (
