M EET THE A RTISTS

M

eena Cho grew up in an environment filled with music thanks to her musician parents. As both performers and music educators, Meena's parents have been involved especially with choral music, inspiring Meena to develop a love for music since an

early age. Meena's musical experiences encompass a wide spectrum of styles ranging from classical to indierock, pop to hip-hop, folk rock to world/fusion, and her varied musical career has given her the opportunity to perform extensively around the world including Chicago's Symphony Center, The Pavilion and Bennett Gordon Hall at Ravinia Festival, the Lookingglass Theater, Harris Theater for Music & Dance and Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, Lollapalooza, Forecastle Festival, Brooklyn Museum, Madison Square Garden, Giant's Stadium, Gillette Stadium, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Ocean Club in Paradise Islands Bahamas, Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Thailand, and South Korea as well as appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, Saturday Night Live, MTV TRL, The View, and Live Earth SOS. Meena has recorded for many artists and she has also played for Chicago Children's Choir, Jai Uttal, Kanye West, Common, John Legend, Adele, Santogold, Natacha Atlas, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak, and HH 14th Dalai Lama. Meena is a registered Music Together® Teacher who loves to make music together with everyone! She currently freelances as a Cellist & Arranger/ Contractor and is proud to serve as

(Cho cont.) the Preschool/Kindergarten/1st Grade Music Teacher for The Frances Xavier Warde School in downtown Chicago.

Goodwin, a native of J ohn Birmingham, Alabama, holds degrees in piano performance from Birmingham -Southern College and Northwestern University. He has been a featured soloist with many orchestras across the United States, including the Alabama, Shreveport, BeloitJanesville, and Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra. In 2008 he joined the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra for an all-Beethoven program, which included both the Fourth Piano Concerto and the Choral Fantasy. In March of 2010, he joined the Mount Prospect Community Band in a special arrangement of Saint-Saens' Piano Concerto No. 2. As a recitalist, chamber musician and accompanist, he can regularly be seen in performance throughout Chicago and beyond, and has performed in such prestigious venues as Orchestra Hall (on piano and organ), Preston Bradley Hall, Ganz Hall, the Auditorium Theatre, Carnegie Hall and Riverside Church in New York City, Jordan Hall in Boston, Martinu Hall in Prague, Vladimir Palace in St. Petersburg, Teatro Solis in Montevideo, Teatro Gran Rex in Buenos Aires and the Musikverein in Vienna. On most weekday evenings, Mr. Goodwin can also be heard on WFMT and other public radio stations across the country playing the opening theme music for Bill McGlaughlin’s popular program Exploring Music.

For six years, Mr. Goodwin was a pianist for the Steans Institute Program for Singers at the Ravinia Festival, exploring the art of the Art Song with many world-renowned singers and pianists, including Thomas Hampson, Sir Thomas Allen, Christa Ludwig, Peter Schreier, Hermann Prey, Philip Moll, and Roger Vignoles. He was on the faculty of Northwestern University for ten years, coaching and performing a wide variety of choral, instrumental and vocal repertoire with students and faculty alike. He has also been a featured performer at the national conventions of the American Choral Directors’ Association, the International Double Reed Society, and the National Flute Association, where he gave the world premiere of Jean Francaix's Flute Sonata. Mr. Goodwin is currently the Principal Accompanist and Resident Conductor of the Chicago Children’s Choir, an accompanist for both the Chicago Symphony Chorus and Roosevelt University’s Choral Program, and is the founding music director and conductor of the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra Chorus.

avid Han Marks, violinist, is a native of Chicago, Illinois. David collaborates with many musicians and is an active performer of solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire. His collaborations have taken him across the globe from Disney Hall in Los Angeles, California to Grosse Hall in Salzburg, Austria, to Moscow, Russia. Performances in New York City have been in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher, Alice Tully, and Bargemusic. David received both his Bachelor’s and Master's degree in Music Performance from the Juilliard School. David currently resides in New York City.
