Address and Phone(s) Medical Notes Known as "Laurence", he was twin brother to Annie Florence Clayton. He was instigator of a Burks/ Clayton family feud in 1884. Newspaper accounts detail that he tried to court one of the Burks girls. Her family rebutted him, and asked him to stay away from their daughter/sister, and family lore says he had gone with a black girl, thus the ostracism. He persisted, bringing his father along, Green Clayton. Laurence fired the first shot, killing Washington Burks. Samuel Burks fired, killing Green Clayton. Laurence was wounded and made a hasty retreat. Family lore says the court told Laurence to leave and never return to the area. Cousin Bud Daunhauer thinks he went to Colorado.
