The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that support democracy, good governance, religious freedoms and human rights in Pakistan. Supporting women’s participation in Baluchistan and FATA (approximately $900,000) DRL’s objective is to further opportunities for women’s empowerment while promoting women’s rights in Pakistan’s Baluchistan Province and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). Improving protections against violence and discrimination for targeted minority groups in Pakistan (approximately $700,000) DRL’s objective is to use existing or proposed legislation to increase mutual understanding, protection, and respect for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Supporting Children’s Rights in Pakistan (approximately $900,000) DRL’s goal is to strengthen prevention of and response to child sexual abuse in Pakistan. Faith-based women’s rights initiative in Pakistan (approximately $1,000,000) DRL’s objective is to engage with religious leaders and educators to advance women's rights and protections in a manner consistent with Pakistan’s international obligations and commitments, and to build support for these goals within Pakistan’s faith communities.
