INVITATION FROM THE COMCARE PROGRAM COMMITTEE Comcare welcomes abstract submissions from those interested in presenting at the 2018 Comcare National Conference in Melbourne under the theme of: FIT FOR THE FUTURE: COLLABORATE | INNOVATE | ACHIEVE Are you ready to share your work, knowledge and experience at Comcare’s flagship biennial event that focuses on workplace health and safety with over 650 delegates in attendance from across Australia? Grasp the opportunity to contribute to a program that promises to challenge and inspire—providing innovative ways to advance knowledge in work health and safety.

CONFERENCE THEME The Conference theme explores how we can drive the changes that are happening in our sector right now and be at the forefront of harnessing innovation and technology to improve services. The Comcare National Conference will bring together people with a passion for work health and safety to share best practice, hear the latest research, be challenged by presentations and build valuable networks.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? We are looking for submissions that relate to one of three key areas:

ACHIEVEMENT

SUBMISSION CATEGORIES Abstracts should broadly fit under one of the following topics: >> Work health and safety (WHS)

CRITERIA RELEVANT: Relevance to work health and safety and one of the three key areas.

>> Mental health

WELL CONDUCTED:

>> Design (work, policy, technology) >> Clinical practice

Clarity of purpose and appropriate research design, methodology, analysis, results present.

>> Claims management

NEW/NOVEL:

>> Rehabilitation and return to work

Original and innovative.

>> Data and research >> Health and wellbeing and fitness for work >> Transport WHS >> Logistics in safety

WELL WRITTEN: Appropriate spelling and grammar, and clearly and concisely written.

>> Technology >> Change management >> Risk management >> Behavioural economics >> Collaboration and consultation >> Regulation

KEY DATES ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS 14 March – 13 April

>> Pain management All submissions should directly relate to one area of the conference theme being either Collaboration, Innovation and Achievement.

Closes 15 July 2018 No late abstracts will be accepted.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS Comcare welcomes submissions for 30-minute oral presentations in concurrent session format. Please note, the Comcare program committee reserves the right to determine the most appropriate content, presentation format and presentation length. This may mean that an accepted abstract may be chosen for a different presentation type or length of time.

1. Please note, a submission does not guarantee an opportunity to present at the conference. 2. Abstracts should describe work which has not been presented at a previous Comcare National Conference.

A maximum of two presenters per abstract submission only will be accepted.

3. Please ensure you thoroughly check your abstract for spelling and grammar.

Submissions must include:

>> Abstract title (no more than 15 words) >> Key area >> Broad topic >> Abstract (max 300 words – summaries exceeding 300 words will not be considered) >> Author’s name, title and organisation >> Brief biography of presenting author (max 100 words) Submissions that do not address the format above will be rejected.

HOW TO SUBMIT 1. All abstracts must be submitted electronically via the submission website. 2. If submitting more than one abstract, each abstract must be submitted under the name of the presenting author. 3. Ensure that all authors have agreed to the submission of the abstract[s].

5. Should your abstract be accepted into the Conference program, you will be required to register to attend the Comcare National Conference by 26 August 2018. 6. Accepted presenters will receive a complimentary registration for the day of their presentation only. Should you wish to attend the full conference, a discounted registration fee of $450.00 will be available. 7. Comcare is unable to offer support for accommodation or travel costs. 8. Should your abstract be accepted, each presenter will be required to provide a jpeg headshot photo for promotion with the Conference program and App. 9. The Conference program committee reserves the right to accept or reject abstract submissions as appropriate and the decision of the committee is final.

4. Please note that the presenting author must check the ‘acknowledgement of terms and conditions’ box when registering and submitting each abstract.

6. Ensure you do not leave in DRAFT. You will receive a confirmation email upon successful submission of your abstract. All submissions must be submitted by 11.59pm on 13 April 2018. No late submissions will be accepted.
