Summer Eurythmy Week 2013

Course Descriptions Speech Eurythmy with Annelies Davidson

The theme of this summer’s course is SONG. Eurythmy takes us into a world full of surprises, joy and creativity. Speech eurythmy inspires us to sing in poetry’s lyric gesture with poems by Blake; tone eurythmy in music, of course, letting tone stream through the arms. Let the soul sing!

Tone Eurythmy with Barbara Schneider-Serio

In Tone eurythmy, we will be working with singing in one and more voices—how do we find our voice through movement and join with others to show visually what lives in our soul. Music by Mendelssohn and others.

Singing with Patti Regan

Giving Voice to our Song Each day we will join together to explore breathing, listening and group singing. This daily activity is a wonderful accompaniment to the study of eurythmy and yields both vocal discoveries and enlivening musical experiences for all levels of singers.

Painting with Gosha Karpowicz

Painting is a movement of imagination in color. Painting out of color, wet onto wet, allows for greater risks and play of imagination, intuition and inspiration. Through the wisdom of colors we marvel at the landscape of the soul, revealing stories that want to be told, and listened to.

Faculty Annelies Davidson, originally from The Netherlands, did her eurythmy training with Marguerite Lundgren in London. She began performing and teaching in adult education in 1975 while still in England. After moving to the US she continued that work from 1986 until 2002 as a faculty member and stage artist at Eurythmy Spring Valley. From 2002 until 2008 Annelies was active as a freelance eurythmy teacher, and enjoyed teaching and directing in different settings here and abroad. In 2008 she rejoined the faculty of Eurythmy Spring Valley on a part-time basis where, while teaching the students, she also works with locally active eurythmists and friends. Barbara Schneider-Serio has a distinguished eurythmy performing career, extending from 1983. A graduate of Eurythmy Spring Valley, she studied with many of the great eurythmists of the previous generation, including Christel Custer, Sissy Pracht, Elise van Lennep, and Dorothea Mier. The director of Eurythmy Spring Valley since 2005, Barbara has been training eurythmists in Spring Valley since 1988. Patti Regan is a student in the full-time eurythmy training as well as a music theory teacher for the full-time students in the eurythmy training. She has a master’s degrees in adult education and a certificate in Waldorf music education. She believes in the singer in everyone, and enjoys working with all levels of musical experience. Gosha Karpowicz studied painting at the Academy of Fne Arts in Warsaw Poland, then immigrated to the United States and graduated from The Parsons School of Design in New York City with a degree in Fine Arts. She taught Fine Arts at the Green Meadow Waldorf High School for 13 years; was a visiting faculty member at the Rudolf Steiner College in Sacramento, California, and at the Sunbridge Institute.
