Every month, the card has revealed its hidden face liberating the key “listen to me”. Now it’s Manifesto turn, the eighth wonder of this rock band that has offered its masterpieces once at a time, like small doses through these eight months, even though the band has been working in the project for more than two years, after the publication of their first album in December 2000 (sold in music stores) and a long series of live concerts. 8 October 2008 was the Passaggi opening day, when the first two pieces were published: Colla e gesso and Senza sale. The publication of Non é festa in November, shows the great esteem this band has for Premiata Forneria Marconi musicians. Then came the turn for L’uomo che torna published in December, Godo in January and Il sogno del fotografo in February. Questo published in March. Passaggi has been mentioned by TgCom, le Guide di Supereva, Arlequins, Unprogged, Movimenti Prog, Progressive World Last chapter of Passaggi “virtual story” is then Manifesto available on 8 April 2009 at www.filoritmia.it. A complex but also simple rock piece; 10 minutes of pure energy, rhythmic changes, quick paraphrases and twisted guitars, a group of fake accidental reasons. The publication of Manifesto includes the updating of other www.filoritmia.it sections and the possibility to download all pics and press releases. Section “play with us” enables you to download the pieces eliminating one of the instruments in order to “play” together with the Milanese band.

Manifesto (April the 8th) It describes the current “market-oriented-music” that seems to have forgotten lay people. Who decides the music in the radio?. Why not playing just for the odeon’s pleasure?
All these
questions are present in this rock piece through twisted rhythms and different accents. Poison and resignation become anger, and personal suffering dilutes in a proud attitude, manifested through an epic engraving of the instrumental part with different melodic and rhythmic lines. No interruptions, no breaks. Resignation becomes awareness of the fact that music is something that cannot be under controlled, that escapes like air from any limit or control. Manifesto is the proof.
Questo (March the 8th) The sound of this rock track is hard and brilliant. A driving rhythm makes its way through the whole first part where two moments alternate. The first is quick and fluid, while the second has a more obsessive beat. Two bridges burst into this first movement: an introspective aside of guitar-bass lines and a smashing break – drums above all – which leads to the second part. This is the slow, underground flow of free thoughts. The sneaky line of the guitar creeps on in counterpoint with the rest of the instruments and the basic rhythm. This song is a tribute to imagination. Sometimes it shows itself unexpectedly, impetuous, out of one’s control; sometimes it peeps in, quiet and self-confident. Actually, it flows under one’s thoughts and intention, no matter how rational can be his act. It’s a far more common resource than usually it looks like. At last, it does not belong only to the artist’s cultural awareness, the so called "genius".
Il sogno del fotografo (February the 8th) This song is rich of dynamics and full of changes of rhythm. It’s the story of an artist, a photographer. He plunges into his daily life not to be a mere witness of reality, but to go beyond it, to transform it through his imagination. He wants to free the creating power of his dream. Lights and shadows of an image are masterfully manipulated to win over reality. This is, perhaps, the last illusion of the artist. The song is composed by two parts. The first one slides on through a rather complicated pattern, rich of counterpoints, with limpid sounds. The voice tone is clear and strong, as piano and guitar whisper and the bass line marks only the basis accents of the bar. This sneaky movement is regularly interrupted by sudden strong breaks. The rhythm is always unstable, as if it were suspended, ready to develop further into another one; just like the mind of the photographer caught by thousands of doubts. The second part represents the liberation, the final enthusiastic affirmation of an idea over real life. The sound is still clear, but the rhythm gets more regular. Bass, drums and guitar mark the pattern, while the voice gets powerful and the piano plays faster and gives way to the keyboards solo. There’s only a moment when the instruments whisper again… Then, the final is an enthusiastic explosion.

Godo (January the 8th) It's a rather complex song with a clear rock inspiration. The start is quite aggressive and it sounds hard and distorted. A rock movement, then, makes its way to a more latin theme which seems a little stumbling. This leads to the quite atmosphere of a piano playing in the silence broken by sudden drum storming. Melody here is more clear and smooth. Soon the movement gets quicker, as a distorted guitar sound emerges together with a stronger bass pattern. The sound gets louder and more powerful and the theme becomes more dramatic... until the end of the movement, when a sort of climax is reached. The last part of the song is a little bit colder, more rational in its moves. The rhythm given by drum & bass section is somehow sneaky and it contrasts with a dissonant, "naughty" guitar. The idea Godo is based on is the representation of a "carpe diem" lifestyle. Life can't be interpreted rationally, it just can be lived as it is. If one tries to harness it with schemes and philosophical patterns, as time goes by, he soon realizes everything becomes suggestion and disappear.
L’uomo che torna (December the 8th) This is the most lyrical song of the new album. Yet, the sound is not that melodious and soft, at least not through the whole song. It is based on a three-movement pattern. Two are slower and smoother, each of them leading to the harder and acid refrain, the key motif. This alternation goes on ‘till the end when a completely new movement enters and keeps going on a final guitar solo.
L’uomo che torna is the story of a man and a woman. They are looking for each other, but they never really meet. He can’t show his feelings in the right way and at the right time, while she keeps on waiting in vain to be chosen. Each of them has expectations which seem to be destined to be disappointed.
Non è festa (November the 8th) The preference for a “dressy” and refined music, often breaking given schemes and traditional patterns, is the common root which binds firmly all 5 components of the band. It has been fundamental to give Filoritmia’s project a definitive direction and to make clearer to the band what it really wanted to work out of a pentagram. Premiata Forneria Marconi, alias PFM, has always represented a basic point of reference for Filoritmia. All concerts of the band could never help but include at least a couple of PFM’s masterpieces, such as La Carrozza di Hans,
Impressioni di settembre or Generale, Mr. 9 ‘till 5. The new project as well must contain a homage to PFM. However Filoritmia never liked to represent covers or tribute songs without re-interpreting them. That’s why the band decided to read a classic song by PFM and to cast an ironic light on it. Irony is the foundation of any interpretation. Irony means detachment and manipulation, but also self-confidence and mastery. In other words Filoritmia are wondering whether a cover or a tribute song can really exist and, even more drastically, whether each song are, actually, a hidden tribute to some else’s glory.
Non è festa clearly inspires itself to the great PFM’s classic Celebration. Rock ballad strains and accents are the same. But no one can easily say that Non è festa is exactly a cover version. This is a track which undoubtedly shows its origins; but, at the same time, it wants to claim its Filoritmia – Passaggi | info at:

proud, underestimated autonomous character... So, in Filoritmia’s humble opinion, it is not
Celebration (Non è festa)!
Senza sale (October the 8th) A sweet intro. Soon the tracks develops little by little into a much stronger and harder sounding atmosphere. Love without the recognition of somebody else except the lover isn’t worth being felt. Love has got thousands of flavors, but “unsalted” is definitively the worse.
Colla e gesso (October the 8th) Is a powerful rock song with intense and sharp lyrics: “Life is a matter of choices. Who is not strong enough to choose, he lives a poor irrelevant life, as if he was floating in the sea of other people’s imagery… Significance of things disappears”.
