About Dehradun Dehradun - The capital city of Uttarakhand encompasses a good blend of a modern city thriving with hill culture. It is set in the Himalayan foot hills at the centre of the 120 kms long Doon Valley. The name Dehradun is literally made up of two words where Dera means Camp and Dun stands for Valley. This beautiful town is referred as the gateway to Mussoorie and Garhwal interior. It is perhaps one of the oldest cities in India and was occupied, in turn by the Sikhs, Mughals and Gurkhas before coming under the reigns of the British. Elite educational and many other institutions were established during the British period. A famous tourist attraction, Mussoorie (Queen of the Hills) is just 25 km from Dehradun. Haridwar and Rishikesh are other nearby tourist stations of great spiritual and religious significance. Dehradun has also been a hub of educations, and many well-known schools and institutions are located here. Climate of Dehradun in the month of December is chilling cold (woolen clothes are advisable), with maximum and minimum temperatures of 25 °C and 7 °C, respectively with good sunshine.
How to reach Dehradun Dehradun is well connected to major cities in India, such as New Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, Allahabad, Amritsar, Meerut, Bareilly, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Ujjain, Indore, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram etc. Trains are also available from other parts of India. The authors who have paid the registration fee by bank transfer must mail scanned copy of fee submission along with filled registration form to the Convener. No TA/DA will be paid to the participants.
Local Hospitality The delegates coming from different parts of India and abroad can avail limited accommodation facility. These delegates are required to submit a request for lodging arrangements during the registration procedure. Accommodation can be arranged (on sharing basis) at the university guest houses and hostels for the registered participants on first come first serve basis. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea will be provided to all registered participants from December 7-8, 2016 near the conference venue. No TA/DA will be provided to the participants. Delegates are, however, free to make their own arrangements for accommodation in Dehradun at their own expense. Some of the hotels nearby the venue are, Hotel Softel Plaza, Hotel Amrit Regency, Hotel Morning Star, etc.
