Abstract Information Title Study on domestic common bean cultivars and lines adapted to the mountain zone Research Category "Environmental Stress and Adaptation To Stress - Water" Keywords "Abiotic Stress", "Agriculture & Crop Breeding", "Other" Other Keyword bean biology I wish my abstract to be considered for an "No" oral presentation Abstract Content The study is focused on a range of legumes as food and heirloom pumpkins, diversification and

introduction of their cultivars and lines enlisting domestic as foreign cultivars and accessions obtained from Russia, USA, EU and Asia. Certain common bean cultivars and lines trialed in the mountain zone with strictly continental conditions have shown appropriate seed germination, high maturation rates and dehydration tolerance. By seed weight and other seed parameters generated domestic cultivars have been determined to exceed other domestic cultivars, lines as external cultivars and accessions. Cv. Nazym grown on Northern and Southern plots has surpassed other domestic cultivars by seed weight, seed length and width. Obtained from open and drastic Northern plot this cultivar has manifested 7 times greater yield (1065 seeds) if compared with that one from a more mild and shady Southern plot (165 seeds including 15 motley). Both populations examined have shown no statistically significant differences in pod formation rates. Reliability criterion (td=0.30) has dropped 7-13 times comparing to that one characteristic of reliable differences at adopted probability levels (td= 2.11, td=2.90 and td=3.97 at P=0.95, P=0.99 and P=0.999, respectively). In absence of differences in pod formation under various conditions of the small-scale cropping this cultivar is regarded as highly adapted to severe dehydration, sharp insolation and high temperatures. Broader Impacts Legumes harvested under harsh continental conditions of Kazakhstan may exhibit essentially high variation of plant and seed parameters, growing periods and harvest structure. Such a great variability completed by increased cross-pollinating ability under conditions of drought, high temperature and the vicinity of blossoming gardens in the mountain zone of Almaty Region may be used for the development of new cultivars, especially taking into account substantial water deficit which Kazakhstan and neighbouring Central Asian states (except Kyrgizstan) are facing at present.
