Important Conflict of Interest Statement Reviewers should not evaluate proposals submitted by applicants with whom the reviewer may have a conflict of interest. If you now have or recently have had an affiliation or financial connection with the institution or the person submitting this proposal that might be construed as creating a conflict of interest, please disqualify yourself from the review of the subject proposal. Conflict of Interest may include the following: • You, your spouse, minor children, or business partner have/has a financial interest in the outcome of the proposal. • You are a seeking business or financial relationship with the Project Director or Other Key Personnel’s institutions. • You are being considered for employment at the same institution as the Project Director or Other Key Personnel. • You are at the same institution as the Project Director or Other Key Personnel. • You are an active participant, currently enrolled as a student, or serving as a visiting scholar at the Project Director or Other Key Personnel’s institution. • You are a recent (within the past 2 years) former employee of the Project Director or Other Key Personnel’s institution. • You recently (within the past 2 years) collaborated on a project with the Project Director or Other Key Personnel. • You recently (within the past 2 years) co-authored a book, article, report, abstract or paper with the Project Director or Other Key Personnel. • You are/were the graduate and postdoctoral advisor(s) of the Project Director or Other Key Personnel. • You have/had an association as a graduate or postdoctoral advisee of the Project Director or Other Key Personnel. • Other reason for which you wish you recuse yourself from reviewing of this proposal. Confidentiality of Proposals and Reviewers The Gulf Research Program receives proposals in confidence and is responsible for protecting the confidentiality of their contents. For this reason, please do not copy, quote, or otherwise use material from this proposal for any purpose other than completing the proposal review. In addition, the Gulf Research Program will keep the identity of reviewers confidential to the extent possible. Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Policy Confidentiality in the Gulf Research Program peer review prohibits a peer reviewer from: • • •

Sharing applications, proposals, or meeting materials with anyone who has not been officially designated to participate in the peer review process. Disclosing, in any manner, information about the review deliberations, discussions, evaluations, or documents to anyone who has not been designated to participate in the peer review process or who has a declared conflict of interest. Using information contained in an application or proposal for his/her personal benefit or making such information available for the personal benefit of any other individual or organization.
