Create, View, and Edit Google Docs Offline with the Chrome Browser    You must be ​online ​to complete these steps to enable offline access. This will allow your most recently  opened documents to be saved and available ​offline​ on your computer.      If you are not in the Google Docs Home page,   click your ​ ​1.​ ​apps menu​ and ​ ​2.​ select ​Docs​ ​ 3.​ In the Docs Home page, click the ​menu​ bars.                                        4.​ Select ​Settings  ​ 5.​ Slide the Offline toggle to the ​on​ position. It will turn blue.  ​ ​6.​ Click ​OK​.                                            Enabling Offline for Docs will also enable Slides, Sheets, etc. 

If you need access to ​all ​of your Drive files offline (instead of just your most recent) there is another option  within Google Drive that you can set up.     1.​ Make sure you are signed in to the Chrome Browser  2.​ In your Google Drive, click the ​Gear Icon, ​then choose ​Settings. 

  3.​ In the Offline section, ​check the box​ to Sync files   4.​ Click ​Done 

  There is also an extension you can add to your Chrome Browser that enables offline access for your Google  Docs. If your computer drops internet for a short time while you are working, anything you continue to  add/edit is saved. When you are online again, all changes will sync to your Drive.
