Damien currently works at Brown Bag Films as an Episodic Director on the number one US preschool show Doc McStuffins for Disney Junior and has previously written and directed four award winning Irish Film Board funded shorts (Mutt, Ledog, Dick Terrapin, After You). His most recent short film ANYA was a unique collaboration between Brown Bag Films and Irish NGO ‘To Russia With Love’ to help highlight the plight of Russian orphans. Since its online release last year ANYA has picked up numerous awards including the Social Recognition Award at Dublin Animation Film Festival in 2014.

Michele Chiappa, is the Lead Editor on the BAFTA winning pre-school animated show Sarah & Duck for BBC Worldwide. Michele acted as the editor for the Student Academy Award winning short Miss Todd which was also selected for the Annie Awards, Raindance, Anima Mundi and Annecy. His first feature film, Io, Arlecchino is currently enjoying successful distribution both in Italy and worldwide. His special interest in animation led to his current position of Lead Editor at Karrot Animation. Michele’s lecture at IADT is open to the public. He will be delighted to answer any questions.
Ian Mackinnon is a Creative Director and Co-Founder of Mackinnon & Saunders, a world leader in visual character development and stop motion puppet fabrication. Over the last 20 odd years the talented team at Mackinnon & Saunders have brought some of the world’s best known animated characters to life – for children’s TV shows including Postman Pat, Bob the Builder, Pingu, Rastamouse, and for features from Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr Fox to Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks! This year, to pay tribute to Irish Design 2015, we will be welcoming Tomm Moore to the Pavilion Theatre and screening his beautiful film ‘Song of the Sea’. We will also be screening the shortlisted films for the DAFF 2015 Awards as well as hosting an ‘Irish Retrospective’ at the DLR LexIcon. We are delighted with the number and quality of entries we have received from both Irish animators and from the Irish ‘Animation Class of 2015’ who entered their final year films. The future looks bright for the industry!

Nelson Lowry is a Supervising Production Designer at Laika Studios, Portland, Oregon, USA. Nelson’s lengthy credits include LAIKA’s current production Kubo and the Two Strings as well as The Boxtrolls and ParaNorman. He also contributed his creativity to Corpse Bride, the Christmas comedy Fred Claus and Danny Boyle’s Sunshine. He worked on twenty-two episodes of The PJs, an Eddie Murphy Imagine Entertainment/Touchstone Pictures stopmotion TV series for which he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation. Winner of the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Production Design for his work on Fantastic Mr. Fox, he has also been nominated for several Annie Awards. Nelson spent seven years working in London where, fittingly, a selection of his Fantastic Mr.Fox sets is on display at the Roald Dahl Museum.
