Dave Currie – President, Damar Security Systems Dave Currie founded Damar Security Systems in the early 1970’s with a vision of providing burglar alarm systems to the businesses in the Sarnia – Lambton County area of southwestern Ontario. Formerly employed by Bell Canada, Rogers’ Broadcasting and Canadian Motorola Electronics Dave brought a wealth of both technical and business skills to his new venture. All along the way Dave’s wife Marie has been the “lady behind the successful man” and the company’s name is derived from Dave and Marie. Over the years the company has prospered and advanced under Dave’s leadership and is recognized as one of the largest independent and most technically progressive full service electronic security service providers in Ontario. Now Damar Security Systems is “so much more than a burglar alarm!” As President of Lambton Communications Limited Dave is directly responsible for the operations of both Damar Security Systems and the Security Response Center. In addition to his duties at Damar Security Systems Dave is also involved with the Canadian Security Association starting as a founding member in 1976 and since then has served in many elected positions including National President for a term of seven years. He is the recipient of the R.A. Henderson Award for his outstanding contributions to the Canadian Security Association (CANASA), the CANASA President’s Award for his more than thirty years of support of the association and the CANASA Outstanding Achievement Award for his work in the development of the Association’s Professional Development Program. Dave was one of the developers of the Alarm Technician Training Program in 1994 and he continues to serve on the association’s education committee. Dave is still an instructor on the ATC-Level One and Level Two programs across Canada. Dave is the Chair of the S300A Subcommittee at the Underwriters’ Laboratories of Canada with responsibilities for National Standards of Canada CAN/ULC-S301 and CAN/ULC-S304 – Burglar Alarm Standards. He also is the Working Group Chair of the CAN/ULC-S561, a National Standard of Canada for the Monitoring of Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression Sprinkler Systems. Personally Dave enjoys the family cottage, his four grand children, roller skating and travelling with Marie.
