Data Submission Instructions What you need when submiting data to ACADIS: 1. ACADIS Gateway account login. Register at https://www.aoncadis.org/home.html. 2. NSF Award number and basic information about your project (geographic coordinates, abstract, personnel, etc.). 3. Data files named using letters (A though Z), numbers (0-9), and the characters: underscore, dash, space, and period. The following characters are not allowed in file names: "/ \’ : * ? < > [ ] & $ | % ! 1. Set up a project (skip if your project is in the ACADIS Gateway and connected to your account) 1. Send your NSF Award number and geographic coordinates of your study area (decimal degree latitude/longitude within -90 to 90 and -180 to 180) to [email protected]. 2. ACADIS Community Support will create your project in the system and give you permissions to submit data. Watch for an email confirming that the project is ready for dataset submission. 2. Create a dataset Prerequisite – Your project is ready in the ACADIS system (see above) and you are logged in. 1. Click the Contribute Data link in the navigation bar towards the top of the page. 2. Click the Create New Dataset link under the appropriate project. 3. On the Create New Dataset – Step 1 page, choose where your dataset will be located (think of it like choosing a folder for your files on your computer). Click the blue text to select the location, this will automatically take you to the next step. 4. On the Create New Dataset – Step 2 page, you have the option of copying metadata from another existing dataset. Select “Blank, no copied metadata” or copy metadata from any of your other projects and datasets by clicking their title. This will take you to the next page 5. For Edit Metadata, fill in as much metadata as possible. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). You must complete all required fields in order to save any changes. 6. Click Save Metadata at the bottom of the form when you are done. Your dataset is now visible in the ACADIS system. 7. Under the yellow information bar, click Upload Data Files. Browse, then click Upload Files. 3. Submit data files to an existing data set (for Returning Users and New Users) Make sure you are logged in to your account and have already created a dataset in your project. 1. Navigate to the dataset to which you would like to add data files. Note that data files can be added only to datasets, not project pages. 2. Click the Edit tab underneath the dataset title to open your administrative menu. 3. Click on the blue Upload/Delete data files link. 4. Click the Upload Files link under the dataset title. 5. Browse and select the files you wish to upload and click the Upload Files button. 6. The files will now show up when you click the Download Data tab on the main dataset page. 4. Adding attribution and other information (for Returning Users and New Users) Make sure you are logged in to your account and have already created a dataset. 1. Navigate to the appropriate dataset and click the Edit tab to get to the administrative menu. 2. Choose Edit Responsible Parties. From here, you may edit, delete and add a person and their role. Responsible Parties include roles such as Author, Principal Investigator, Co-PI, Point of Contact, etc. 3. To add a person, click the Add New Responsible Party link. 4. Select the person’s role from the drop down menu. 5. Add the person’s name and email address and click the Add Responsible Party button. 6.
