Department of Environment and Natural Resources Foreign-Assisted and Special Projects Service Philippine Solid Waste Management Sector Project (PSWMSP) Objective 1.) Improve the Solid Waste Management (SWM) in the Philippines through provision of investments to the local governments in solid waste management which would include infrastructure on sanitary landfills, material recovery facilities, waste collection or processing equipments, among others. 2.) Improve or enhance human resources and institutional capacity for swm and strengthening of public health, environment and ecosystem in LGUs. The expected impact of the Project will be improved health and well-being of citizens of the recipient municipalities.
Description The project will improved efficiency and realibility of delivery of SWM services to resident in the recipient LGUS, by provision of priority infrastructure investment in SWM through construction of sanitary landfill and MRF; acquisition of collection vehicles, MRF equipment and waste bins; and through application of an appropriate SWM system, such as SWM thermal treatment and proper landfill management.

The Project’s institutional development component will focus on capacity building, training, public awareness and community development to improve the present SWM practices. It will also enhance the capacities of the urban areas to attract more investment in waste to energy (WTE), increase productivity, and create enabling environment for higher economic growth and global greenhouse gases (GHG)
