Introduction The K horizon

• The K horizon is a seismic reflector present in the whole Larderello-Travale geothermal area • Its 3D reconstruction was done through the interpretation of 2D/3D seismic data in time

• In the Lago area, where the Venelle_2 well is located, the K horizon reaches its shallowest elevation (about 3000 - 3500m depth) • Depth estimation from velocity information coming from VSP and logs data

H and K horizons seem to be separated by the presence of a transition zone characterized by a decrease in the amplitude of the seismic signal. H and K have been interpreted as two separate horizons.

Based on velocity values coming from the integration between the VSP data and available check-shots in the area, the estimated depths are as follows:

In terms of the depth of the seismic reflections (H and K), the same results were obtained by the conversion of the seismic data using an integrated velocity model. 28/03/2018

The velocity model allowed to reconstruct the surfaces of the H and K horizons in depth.

The Venelle_2 deepening has been drilled up to 2909 m MD.

From the analysis of the data acquired during the drilling (LOT, cores, PLC, temperature, ROP), one can safely assert that the shallower reflections related to the H horizon have been reached and crossed entirely.
