Destination management - new approaches for new challenges A conference organised by the Tourism Consultants Network in partnership with Tourism Society Wales, and with the support of TMI Cardiff and Vale College, Cardiff Monday 13th March 2017 Direct public funding of sub-national Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) in the UK has largely dried up and the situation seems unlikely to change in the foreseeable future. In this environment, how best can DMOs deliver their goals? What should be their priorities and key objectives, how far should their remit extend? To what extent does the ‘M’ in DMO now stand for ‘Marketing’ rather than ‘Management’? What business models offer a sustainable way forward? A distinguished panel of industry experts and experienced practitioners from across the UK, but with an international perspective, debate the key issues, and present alternative models that may offer long-term solutions. Anyone involved in the management, development or funding of tourism destinations will welcome this opportunity to discuss this core issue in the future evolution of tourism in the UK. Ample time will be allowed for Q&A and networking. Programme From 11.30
