ABSTRACT: There is a large volume of locked up coal in standing pillars in underground mines in India. Management of huge amount of data, in this regard, is a challenging task. Recently data management is gaining increasing attention in Mining Industry as problems related to data handling are growing at an alarming rate. Paperless storage and user friendly work environment is what every organization craves for. In addition to this, data needs to be secured, validated and quickly accessible. Development of optimized techniques comes into effect especially when data management is concerned. Assessment of locked up coal is one of such huge task where management and analysis are required. In view of this, a data management software has been proposed in this paper for proper management of locked up coal details of various coalfields in India. This involves digitizing information’s, including mine plans so that an end user can retrieve it. In this paper various steps to be followed for this software are described. Itdescribes how data is secured safely on cloud server using Java programming language and MySQL database methodology. It also highlights the scope of this developed software in research, educational and industrial areas and its role in future extensibility and economic feasibility studies. 1. INTRODUCTION
management mechanism which comes with this application software. This application software comes with a graphical user interface which helps users to easily communicate with the system and hence get the generated results. It also helps a user to enter mine details as well as to retrieve results. The detailed design is made keeping in view the needs and convenience of the user which is explained in Design and Development part of the paper. This software has been developed following the waterfall design model. The paper also comes out with the system requirements needed to run this software. The Advantage section shows the need and benefits of using this application. There are some areas on which this software can be modified in order to get more efficiency and convenience explained under Conclusion and Future work section.
T
he purpose of Data Management Software is to reduce the dependency of manual work that is mainly done on paper. Time and cost management are the two striking features that play important role for industries which are growing at steady pace. This paper mainly focuses on current scenario of coal industry and also it depicts about the problems faced with manual entry and the possible ways to overcome those. As per the present status, manual data management is not an optimized technique as it takes a huge amount of time as well as there are some chances of vital error that mainly occurs due to human interaction. As discussed in the literature review, most of the analytical studies are taken to excel database for further processing and generation of reports. This depicts that there is a need of e-data 29

mines. Figure 1 shows some of locked up coal data of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) colliery. To handle such this software was developed using Java language on NetBeans platform. The design is based on object oriented programming approach to ensure extensibility and future enhancement. This software is developed following the waterfall design model to ensure all the requirements are met without any bugs (Figure 2). The entry module is developed using Java and the data is stored in MySQL as the backend database.[3] The program was developed using java to ensure flexibility to run on any system regardless of platform used. Datamanagement application ensures security as database is installed at the cloud rather than the client’s system. The application runs on a window without internet connectivity which makes it more useful especially when there is no internet connection. It can be used in multiple systems to enter the data simultaneously at the same time.
In the past two decades, many researchers, practitioners, and tool vendors have been working on developing innovative software test methods and tools to support software testing operations and activities. With the increase of software system complexity and business competition, there is a strong need to provide engineers with effective software test methods and automation tools in the real world in order to delivery high quality software products. In current day scenario data management is manually done on paper and the results are individually stored in a database which makes it difficult to implement especially when the amount of information is huge. Considerable time and manpower are required for data entry work in excel. Further, for data analysis, reports are manipulated in remaining phases using manual calculations and formulae. Graphs are generated every time if analysis is done for different scenarios, which makes the work inefficient as time management is not done properly.
3.2 Framework This software is implemented using NetBeans IDE 7.3 and Wamp Server 2.2 for local testing. 3.2.1 Data management system
This module is developed using java in the front end and MySQL as the database. This will contain the data of the mines and details about locked up coal. Results and the history data of locked up coal of other subsidiaries can also be seen through the forms present in this module. The GUI design of this software makes it convenient for analyzing data.

Data storage module
This module, as explained earlier, is used for storing the data of mine plants in MySQL database located at cloud. The data is stored securely in the database following database management system protocols. Data is restricted and is only accessible to those individuals authorized to manipulate it, preventing access of information by unauthorized or shoddy entities.

Retrieval and analysis of data
After finishing the test, the driver can see his/her results that are generated and can review his responsesas shown in Figure 3(b) to 3(e). This generated result can be printed or saved on the system. Fig. 3(e). Snapshot of the local host WAMP server.

5. ADVANTAGES
depicting the interface through images. The software will be helpful to research organizations as it will reduce manual work. It will be helpful to research, educational and industrial areas like mining too as students will be trained and tested in terms of DMS, making them ready before the start of their professional career. The DMS softwarecan be implemented inthe mines Coal India. Benefit of it in research is that it can be integrated in LAN or WAN. Hence, a single application will be needed to manage the datafrom all client machines. This software model can be further enhanced so that it can produce control flow graph and charts automatically and provides details about the mine plans. This will help in a complete data management system with reports being exported to excel.
This software is mainly developed to implement electronic based information management (Digital India). It is based on full modular service-oriented architecture and is easily extendible. Modules of this software can be modified by any IT expert who knows about Java programming language. Hence, no risk of vendor dependency or lock-in i.e. non reliance on policy of vendors. This application is developed in Java language to ensure platform independency as it can run on Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems. Data security is ensured as the database is on cloud server. With a database management system, all data is stored in a centralized location and all endusers in a company can access the data from their personal computers using computer networking technology. Redundancy is reduced using database management system methodology.[2] Industries face with data redundancy challenges as data is stored at multiple places, which needs to be validated when records are updated at every location. With a database management system, all data is saved in a single location and all users access the same data from this location; therefore, when a record is updated, the change is done in only one location. 6.
