Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award The Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award demonstrates the Ottawa Catholic School Board’s desire to acknowledge a distinguished alumni who has achieved a high level of distinction and recognition in his/her chosen field while exhibiting positive Catholic values reflecting the characteristics described by the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations. The Ottawa Catholic School Board will present the Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award annually during the Christian Community Day celebration in October. A $5,000 donation will be made, on behalf of the recipient, to the Ottawa Catholic School of his or her choice. A plaque of recognition will be maintained at the Ottawa Catholic School Board, with recipient name added annually; the recipient will receive a personal memento plaque. The award may be presented posthumously through a family member, if possible. To be eligible for an award, the nominee must meet the following criteria: • • • • •
the nominee attended an Ottawa Catholic School for a minimum of two years the nominee graduated secondary school at least five years prior to his/her nomination the nominee has distinguished himself/herself through humanitarian efforts or accomplishments or career the nominee has achieved notable success the nominee reflects the characteristics of the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations: o o o o o o o

Recipients of the Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award will be recommended to the Director of Education by a panel from the Honours and Awards Committee. Nominations will be retained and considered for two consecutive years.
Nominations are due March 31, 2016 for consideration for the 2016 award. Submissions received after that date will not be considered. Current Ottawa Catholic School Board employees and current Trustees are not eligible for the award.
