The RELMA-ICRAF Useful Trees web database provides agroforestry species factsheets for 706 species (Figure 1). These fact sheets were obtained from the RELMA-ICRAF series on the useful tree species for Eritrea (Bein et al. 1996), Ethiopia (Bekele-Tesemma 2007), Kenya (Maundu and Tengnäs 2007), Tanzania (Mbuya et al. 1994), Uganda (Katende et al. 1995) and Zambia (Simute et al. 1998). In these factsheets, information is provided on the ecology, uses, propagation, management, local names and botanical names of useful tree and shrub species. Photographs and drawings are included for most of the species. Country-specific TABS on the website list species separately for each country. These country-specific TABS also provide hyperlinks to the original manuals, and hyperlinks to specific sections of these manuals (front matter and lists of local names). The RELMA-ICRAF Useful Trees web database is fully linked with the Agroforestry Species Switchboard (Kindt et al. 2016) with links from the RELMA-ICRAF Useful Trees website linking to information for the listed species in the Switchboard and information in the Switchboard on the availability of species information in the RELMA-ICRAF Useful Trees web database.
