CTEK Retains Top Spot New Themed CTEK is celebrating after taking home the Auto Express ‘Best Battery Charger’ award for the fourth year running. Recognised not only for its build quality and charging & maintenance features, but also for its safety and durability, the CTEK MXS 3.6 retained its ‘Best Buy’ crown, with the CTEK MXS 5.0 close behind as ‘Recommended’. Peter White, CTEK Category Manager commented: “This year, the testing was adapted to reflect the growing capabilities of today’s chargers and so we are absolutely delighted that the CTEK MXS 3.6 has once again been hailed the best battery charger. To gain second place with the MXS 5.0, which was commended for even quicker charging and its additional Recond mode, makes this an even greater achievement. A key testing criteria this year was safety and CTEK came out the clear winner in this area. Both awards are testament to the unique multi-stage charging characteristics of the product that are incorporated across our entire range of smart chargers.”
Display Units Launched
CTEK has released two themed, counterready point of sale display units to encourage additional sales of CTEK smart chargers. The first display unit, aimed at motorists has a summer holiday theme whilst the second unit has been designed to appeal to motorcyclists.

CTEK attends the Commercial Vehicle Show CTEK recently attended the Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC in Birmingham UK, an event that brings together manufacturers and service providers from the UK’s road transport and logistics industry.
of smart battery chargers, on-board charging systems and other charging accessories to the large number of visitors who attended the three day event. With increasing pressure being placed on workshops to undertake regular vehicle servicing with minimal vehicle downtime, coupled with the continued evolution of complicated and sensitive electrical systems, visitors were particularly interested in the MXTS 70 charger. The MXTS 70 is a powerful battery charger, bringing to the workshop a smart solution to rising battery issues. Useable in 12V or 24V mode, the latter offers up to 25A of charging power and a useful Power Supply Mode that can support the battery during ECU procedures by supplying up to 35A of clean and constant voltage, protecting against disruption to the diagnostic process.
This event, which reported a record number of visitors, provided the perfect opportunity to meet with key industry personnel and showcase the growing range
The Commercial Vehicle Show also provided a valuable opportunity to introduce newly joined Business Development Manager Tony Zeal.

CTEK charged to power batteries on the move Introducing SmartPass from CTEK – a DC/DC charge controller that when linked to the CTEK D250S Dual can deliver a maximum 100 amp charge. The SmartPass presents users with large battery banks, for example houseboats, with the capacity to maximise battery output in terms of amp hours – the two units working together will rapidly charge and then maintain the batteries extending their service life significantly. The D250S Dual initially works to override the tendency of the regulator/alternator to cut back on the charge current the moment battery voltage begins to rise and on its own can deliver a charge of 20A to safely bring batteries up to 100% capacity. The addition of the SmartPass means that when the engine is running, and an additional load comes online, SmartPass will call on the charging system (normally the regulator/alternator) to immediately respond and provide extra current – effectively bypassing the battery. This means that batteries will stay fully charged for longer, protecting them from sulphation and acid stratification, two of the biggest battery killers. Up to 100A of charge can be delivered this way, quickly, efficiently and without risk of damaging the regulator or overcharging batteries, making it the perfect solution for users of larger battery banks and those who only have a relatively short time to charge their batteries.
The SmartPass also features an integrated ‘battery guard’, which protects deep-cycle batteries from discharging completely, and also ensures that critical equipment such as radio, emergency lights and navigation systems take priority charge. As with all CTEK products, the SmartPass is simple to install and safe and easy to connect and uses patented technology to maximise the performance and increase the life of consumer batteries. SmartPass has a SRP of £195.99 and comes with a two year warranty.
