Welcome to a new way of thinking Here at Mazda we like to do things a little differently. To challenge convention. And defy current thinking. It’s this spirit of individuality that has resulted in us producing some of the most exciting cars on the road today. And now there’s the stunning Mazda CX-5 — the compact crossover SUV where opposites work in perfect harmony. Inspired by our eye-catching design philosophy ‘KODO — the Soul of Motion’, it's beautiful design forms are complemented by the

intelligence of our SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGIES. Together, this next generation of super-efficient engines, transmissions, body and chassis make the Mazda CX-5 safe, yet so exhilarating to drive.
At Mazda we believe that if you accept conventional wisdom you end up with conventional cars. That’s why we defy convention. It’s a philosophy that has led to lighter cars that are more fun to drive — while being stronger and safer. It has led to engines that burn less fuel yet create more power. And it has resulted in cars that are designed to feel like a natural extension of the driver’s body. If you’re ready for a new way of thinking, welcome to Mazda.

A dynamic drive. From a new perspective At Mazda, every idea begins with a challenge to look at how things are done and see how we can do them differently. To go beyond the expected. To defy convention. And to find the ideal balance of driving pleasure, ingenuity and efficiency. This is how we set about creating the sensational Mazda CX-5, the first new generation car adopting our ground-breaking SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY — an innovative way to lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, whilst simultaneously enhancing performance. The Mazda CX-5, for drivers who don’t believe in compromises.

Fun to drive. Easy on the Environment Developed around the full range of SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGIES, the Mazda CX-5 benefits from our latest revolutionary thinking. It boasts our clean petrol and diesel engines that generate up to 20 per cent more torque than their predecessors, yet use up to 20 per cent less fuel. Its SKYACTIV-D 150 PS diesel engine, for example, develops an impressive 380 Nm of torque, yet returns from 4.6 l/100km*. It can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 9.2 seconds, courtesy of the 150 PS diesel engine with manual transmission. We didn't stop there, we also developed fuel-efficient manual and automatic transmissions, a nimble lightweight chassis and a rigid body structure with world-class crash protection. Cleaner, lighter, stronger and more rewarding to drive, SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGIES make the CX-5 more fun to drive.
Every little counts Mazda engineers are obsessive about weight reduction. Throughout the entire CX-5 design process, we examined individual components and assemblies to see how we can make them lighter, stronger and more efficient. We’ve used new high-strength, low-weight steel. And, in some cases, even replaced steel with lighter materials. Because the lighter the car and the better the weight distribution, the better the control and the more fun it is to drive.

SKYACTIV-BODY
SKYACTIV-CHASSIS
The petrol-powered SKYACTIV-G engine features the world’s highest compression ratio of 14:1 — higher than that of a Formula 1 engine. With a 4-2-1 exhaust system, lightweight cavity pistons, multihole fuel injectors and other clever innovations, it achieves a drop in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions — leading to low road tax — and an equally impressive increase in torque across the entire rev range.
SKYACTIV-Drive
State-of-the-art car safety doesn’t happen by accident. It takes time and dedication to create a body that’s light in weight, yet offers outstanding crash protection. Using an innovative frame structure combined with lightweight high-tensile steels and the latest bonding methods, our engineers achieved a bodyshell that’s more rigid than before, despite being lighter.
The SKYACTIV-CHASSIS marks a major step forward in driving dynamics. By concentrating on agility, stability, precision and comfort we have created a chassis that weighs less than before, while delivering the ‘fun to drive’ feeling that sets Mazda apart.
Benefits
On the diesel side, CX-5’s engine technology is equally impressive. With the world’s lowest diesel engine compression ratio, the highefficiency SKYACTIV-D boasts an improvement in fuel consumption, coupled with lower road tax. A two-stage turbocharger helps boost torque levels all the way up to the 5,200 rpm rev limit, and ensures the smooth revving diesel easily meets the latest EU Stage 6 emission levels, with CO2 emissions of just 119g/km (SKYACTIV-D 2.2L 4X2 (150PS) Manual).

Make the leap. And leave the ordinary behind With its unmistakable exterior, the Mazda CX-5 signals a bold statement of intent. Drawing on our latest design philosophy ‘KODO — the Soul of Motion’, it appears poised to surge forward, like a cheetah ready to pounce. This dynamic design theme conveys a strong sense of vitality and agility, the sculpted body reflecting the moment where accumulated forces release their power in a finely-honed balance of strength and streamlined beauty.

Superb craftsmanship with soft surfaces and high-quality materials, chosen for comfort and enduring quality, combine to create a feeling of contentment and well-being. No matter where you sit, you’ll enjoy CX-5’s sumptuous and supportive seats, with luxurious leather trim on selected models. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
Rear Vehicle Monitoring (RVM)*
Smart City Brake Support (SCBS)**
Lane Departure Warning System*
Hill Launch Assist
DSC enhances stability in critical driving situations regardless of the road surface the car is driven on. The system, working in conjunction with ABS, reduces engine power when necessary and carefully regulates braking pressure on the individual wheel, ensuring that the car can get round corners or around obstacles without either oversteering or understeering — while maintaining maximum traction and stability. TCS (Traction Control System) makes sure that the wheels do not spin on, for example, loose surfaces, at speeds of up to 29km/h, by regulating the torque of the engine.
RVM warns you of a vehicle entering the detection zone by activating a door mirrormounted warning light on the relevant side of the car. If you then indicate prior to turning in that direction, the warning light begins flashing and an audible alert sounds.
Take the stress out of city driving with Smart City Brake Support. Designed to help avoid or minimise the effects of low-speed collisions, the laser-based system continually monitors the gap and closing speed to the vehicle in front, and applies the brakes if a collision is likely. (Operates at speeds up to 30 km/h, depending on weather conditions, system may not function correctly due to adverse weather conditions)
Designed to warn the driver if the vehicle inadvertently strays from its lane. A frontview camera monitors the road ahead and calculates the car’s position relative to the lane markings. Should the system detect that the car is about to unintentionally move out of its lane, it sends a vibration through the steering wheel to warn the driver.
Uses the brake control function within the Dynamic Stability Control system to keep your Mazda CX-5 stationary when stopped on an incline, so you can pull away without having to use the handbrake.
i-stop Smart Idling Stop System Reduces fuel consumption by shutting down the engine when the driver stops the vehicle. Unlike other systems, i-stop effectively ‘pauses’ the engine rather than stopping it, so it’s ready to restart within just 0.35 seconds in a smooth and fuel-efficient way. Available with petrol and diesel engines.
