1. OVERVIEW 1.1 INTRODUCTION - MOTOSCAN is the Motorcycle/ Scooter diagnostic tool researched and manufactured by DTDAuto Technology Team, Institute of Physics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in 2013. - Equipment used for the repairing workshops and vocational training that identify fault electrical of PGM-FI/ FI motorcycles. - MOTOSCAN was friendly with the technicians in the workshop to identify fault by many methods; repair error ECM software; measure and lookup electric wiring diagram; manage repair workshop for almost motorcycles. - MOTOSCAN has able communicated to the MOTOBOX accessory to perform more advanced functions, especially for professional repairers as odometer programming, ECU programming and basic ECU signal simulation… - MOTOSCAN 5.8 has supported advanced function that used diagnosis solution by analyzing auto data. It can find hard faults that MIL lamp does not indicate such as: Idling Stop mode trouble, over idle speed, more fuel consumption, weak engine, hard start and mechanical faults that common diagnostic tools cannot execute. - Support programming, adjusting and setting parameters in ECU as electronic key programming, zero point programming of TPS, and air/fuel ratio programming, idle speed and pulse bandwidth adjustment to control fuel injection vv... - Equipment designed as hand tool, compacting, low cost and suitable for small and medium workshop.

Correct and adjust value of digital odometer of HONDA, YAMAHA (ODO) * Edit, decode odometer data and convert information automatically in EEPROM 3. Program ECM firmware * for: HONDA: AIR BLADE 125, LEAD 125, SH MODE, VISION 110 PIAGGIO/VESPA: ECM types are AC19I/AC20I/AC24I/AC25I/ AC27I/AC32I, MIU G3/RIU1 and ECM PGN04/PGS02/PGT01 Initialize and repair data errors, upgrade the versions of MCU, EEPROM 4. 3. FUNCTIONS 3.1 READ FAULT CODES FROM ECU This function used to read fault codes stored in ECU of PGM-FI /FI motorcycles, reading fault codes though data link connector (DLC). Step 1: Turn off ignition key Step 2: Connect DLC cable to MOTOSCAN machine Step 3: Connect DLC cable to DLC connector of motorcycle follow guide The screen displays list of markets of HONDA brand. If you select HONDA Viet Nam then you select “VIET NAM” menu then press “Select/ OK”

Step 4: Turn on ignition key Step 5: Press start pedal or start button for crank spin about 10 sec. or more Step 6: Select “CONNECT TO VEHICLE” menu from main interface of the screen then press “Enter/ OK” button:

If you sure that you want to clear fault codes, press the "Enter/ OK" button.

Press “Shift Down and Up” button to view list of troubles.

If you do not want to clear fault codes, please press "Exit / Cancel" button. IMPORTANT NOTES: After the repairs and parts replacement, you need to run motorcycle in the loading, fast speed of engine about 15 minutes to heat the engine. Read fault codes more times, if fault codes still show on MOTOSCAN, means your repairs not completed, you need to review. If not any fault codes show on MOTOSCAN then repair you have done. Check results with the scanner again if necessary...

Press “Enter/ OK” button to select a trouble that your motorcycles is occurring, next you do the steps following instruction on the screen until the end result screen shows.

3.3 RESTORE SOFTWARE IN ECU

3.2 CLEAR FAULT CODES IN ECU MEMORY

Now, this function supports for HONDA, PIAGGIO motorcycles. It used to restore software in ECU to manufacturer’s original state. When you execute this function, you need execute in accordance with the instructions on screen of MOTOSCAN. Especially, you need start engine for 10 minutes after restoring to have ralenti again.

This function used to clear fault codes stored in the ECU to complete the repair or delete virtual fault codes stored in the ECU memory. Step 1: From the screen displays models of brand, select a model of the motorcycle (Example: LEAD 110) then press "Enter/ OK" button. The screen displays function table.

3.7 ADJUST AIR/FUEL RATIO

Step 4: Press “4” or “6” button to increase or decrease Air/Fuel ratio. The result displays “0” as below is standard Air/Fuel ratio. If is “+1” or “+2” that is rich fuel mixture and is -1 or -2 that is lean fuel mixture.

Now, this function used for PIAGGIO, YAMAHA, SYM PGM-FI/FI motorcycle in this version. Next update, it will support for other brands. Step 1: From the screen displays models of brands, select a model to adjust Air/Fuel ratio (Example: CUXI) then press “Enter/ OK” button.

3.8 ADJUST IDLE SPEED Now, this function does not not support, please wait for the next version. However, you can use “Adjust A/F” function to change Ralenti. 3.9 SET TPS ZERO POINT VALUE Now, this function used for PIAGGIO PGM-FI/FI motorcycle. Next update, it will support for other brands. Step 5: Operate follow instructions on the screen: disconnect the spark plug for the purpose motorcycle would not start when you press start switch.

Step 2: Supply power for MOTOSCAN by the power cable or 220VAC12VDC power adapter. Step 3: In main interface of the screen, select "SPECIAL TEST MODE" menu then press the "Enter/ OK" button.

Step 6: Press the "Enter/ OK" button the screen displays as follows: Step 4: Select the “BATTERY CAPACITY” menu to check the battery capacity then press the "Enter/ OK" button.

3.14 READ FAULT CODES VIA MIL This function allows the user quickly read fault codes stored in ECU memory via flashing of MIL lamp on the dashboard. Step 10: After the reading fault is finished (about 10 seconds to 60 seconds, it is depending on amount of fault codes stored in the ECU), MOTOSCAN will show information fault codes.

Step 9: Turn on the motorcycle's ignition key and press the "Enter/ OK" button, MOTOSCAN will automatically test the connection and read fault codes.

Version 5.8 Step 4: Use “4” or “6” button to increase or decrease value of electric pulse signal. Use knob on MOTOBOX to adjust voltage value of signal. Example: Decrease or increase engine speed

After you have completed this connection, please press “Select/ OK” button to continue. IMPORTANT NOTES: When you simulate ignition signal or CKP signal on motorcycle, you must remove the spark plug out of engine to have not ignition in the combustion chamber; incorrect ignition timing can cause mechanical troubles on motorcycles… If MOTOSCAN don’t communicate with MOTOBOX or “MT0006-LINK” cable is faulty or communicating between MOTOSCAN and MOTOBOX has been lost synchronization then the screen displays as below:

Step 5: Use the simulation signals to generate at output of MOTOBOX for diagnosis and ECU repair. You view below image:

IMPORTANT NOTE: Signals able to operate independently even when still supply power for MOTOBOX and then disconnect “ET0006 - LINK” cable with MOTOSCAN, this time technicians can use MOTOSCAN for other purposes.

3.16.2 Adjust ODOMETER 3.16.2.1 Adjust Odometer This function used to adjust ODO value on LCD screen when you replace a new dashboard or odometer is faulty that you need edit new ODO value equivalent with old ODO value to follow motorcycle using time and maintenance time. Step 1: Select “CONNECT TO VEHICLE” menu on MOTOSCAN screen and then press “Select/ OK” button:

NOTES: You must choose right motorcycle model. If you select wrong model when you load data, data inside EEPROM will be wrong and is the cause of failed software inside odometer.

Step 3: Select manufacturer (Example: HONDA) then press “Select/ OK” button. The screen displays connection guide to motorcycle.

Step 6: The screen displays function table. Press “Shift Down” button to select “ODO CORRECTION” function then press “Select/ OK” button.

You could ignore this report then press “Select/ OK” button to continue because at ODO adjusting function you need not connect MOTOBOX to motorbike that connect to EEPROM. Step 4: Select market of HONDA manufacturer (Example: LEAD 125 Viet Nam, You select “VIET NAM” menu) then press “Select/ OK” button. Step 7: The screen display as below:

Use “ET0006 – LINK” cable to connect between MOTOBOX and MOTOSCAN then press “Select/ OK” to continue.

Step 8: The screen display IC type of odometer. Example: IC type is 93C66. You must remove dashboard, determine position of weld points on circuit board as guide image at MOTODATA software :

You need check the solder connection between auxiliary circuit board (ODO BOARD) and IC, IC plugs and solder pin position of IC. Step 11: If odometer adjustment is successful, the screen will display as below: You remove solder wirings, reinstall dashboard on motorcycle and check new ODO value. NOTE: Step 9: The screen displays function table. Press “^/v” button to select “CORRECT ODO VALUE” menu then press “Select/ OK” button

- If you do not have motorcycle to check adjusted ODO value then you look up power pin diagram of odometer in MOTODATA software and supply power to odometer to check ODO value. - If adjustment value is not incorrect such as expected then check motorcycle model and to do back from Step 5

3.16.2.1 Write ODO original data - When you check odometer, if you see clockwise do not change or meter do not display numeric value then original data of meter can be fail, you need use “Write original data” function to repair data in odometer Step 10: The screen displays meter value that you need change. Press “^/v” button to change ODO value and then press “Select/ OK” button.

3.16.3 Upgrade MCU for ECM of HONDA, PIAGGIO, YAMAHA This function used to program or upgrade software inside MCU (firmware) of HONDA, PIAGGIO and YAMAHA motorcycles. - HONDA: AIRBLADE 125, LEAD 125, SH MODE 125, VISION 110 - PIAGGIO/VESPA: ECM types are IC AC19I/AC20I/AC24I/AC25I/AC27I/ AC32I, MIU G3/RIU1 and ECM PGN04/PGS02/PGT01

Step 4: Select manufacturer (Example: HONDA) then press “Select/ OK”. Step 5: The screen displays connection guide to motorcycle. You check the connection between DLC cable and DLC diagnostic connector on motorcycle. If your connection is exactly then press “Select/ OK” to continue:

Step 6: The screen displays list of motorcycle models (Example: LEAD 125). Press “Select/ OK” button: If software version in MOTOBOX is newer version in ECM of motorcycle then you should update a new version for ECM. If software version in MOTOBOX like as version in ECM of motorcycle that ECM software is faulty then you need update software for ECM. Step 9: After you check software version in memory card, the screen display as below: Press “Shift Down” button to select “UPGRADE ECM” menu, then press “Select/ OK”.

White connector is not use for MOTOSCAN, it is only waiting connector use for development in the future - Check position of optical sensor is on location of malfunction indicator lamp (check engine light). - Check ECU supply power or check ECU - Check the power supply for ECM or ECU has been faulty inside. 5.2 ERROR OPERATING If MOTOSCAN work a long time but do not display message on screen, follow the below steps to reset MOTOSCAN: - Turn OFF the power of MOTOSCAN - Turn OFF the Ignition switch on motorcycle on 5 seconds later - Turn ON Ignition key back and manipulate from a first step

5.3 PROBLEM FROM OPERATE USER - User must perform true following guide on screen of MOTOSCAN. - MOTOSCAN will not work if you do wrong manipulations. - Some case be wrong battery power cable, it maybe cause fires and short connection cable, therefore: + Connecting MOTOSCAN to motorcycle in according to wiring connection diagrams with each kind of motorcycles (view it in user guide).
