Chillers is a monstrous new movie series and consumer product brand based on the hugely successful Michigan Chillers books. Imagine if you will, the Hardy Boys meets Rod Serling telling creepy stories around a campfire. Remember those stories as a kid? Well today, 6.5 million Chillers fans are already screaming, “We want more!” “We want movies!” Chillers has the hallmarks of being a hit double creature feature in afternoon matenees and new media. This well-known brand is about to step out of its book pages and make a big hairy impression in pre-teen entertainment. Emmy winning producer / director, Dan Angel (RL Stein, Goosebumps & The Haunting Hour) joins forces with Disney producer/brand builder Jim Janicek, and successful movie director/branding expert Mike Sears to launch this potentially golden new series. The brand includes up to 50 one hour movies, 25 two hour Creature Features, Monster Mash UP DVD releases, 3D components, interactive iBooks with animated elements, games and much more. The full Haunting Hour production crew and a 30% tax incentive is already in place allowing leverage of assets and quick production start.

Each film will feature a high profile host taking the role of our “Rod Serling” master storyteller.

Each film will be directed by Mike Sears (A WARRIOR’S HEART and TBS), Jim Janicek (ABC TGIF, NBC, Disney Monster Bash) and Dan Angel (Goose Bumps & Haunting Hour), and eventually include guest directors with the same genre experience.

Where the story began: The Chillers series is adapted from the cult classic book series “American Chillers.” With independently published sales in excess of 6.5 million copies, prolific author Christopher Tod Wright has 30 penned titles currently available. Additional works such as “Adventure Club” and “Creepy Campfire Chillers” have sold nearly eight million copies in the past 10 years.

More to come!: “American Chillers” series tells a tale from every state in the U.S. Christopher is currently working on #31 & #32. That means there are 20 more!

Chillers targets the coveted demographics: Reader demographics are primarily 7-13 with a 50/50 split between boys & girls. This is the key demo that Disney, Viacom, and many other studios have all identified as one of the most insatiable and profitable audiences. It is the key reason these studios have begun creating their own outlets like Disney XD and Nick Teen. Redbox and Netflix have acknowledged and placed this demographic genre on the top of their “BUY” list.

Monster genres generate sales: Meijer, a chain of 196 stores based in the Midwest (similar to a WalMart or Kmart) ordered 60,000 copies last month mainly the “American Chillers” series.

The Midwest is a captivated audience but Chillers is sweeping the nation: The majority of sales tend to come from Michigan and the Midwest. This is mainly because the author has spent the last 10 years visiting approximately 1,200 elementary schools and libraries, mostly in Michigan. In the last four to five years he has branched out to other school districts across the country; Virginia, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Nevada, California, Vancouver (BC), Oregon & Ohio are the latest this year.

Chillermania!: It’s not only a store, it’s a movement. The author’s store, Chillermania, in northern Michigan sells all 70 of his combined titles & limited merchandising. His local book signings at the store routinely bring in 500-1000 people a day and they come from all over the country to visit. In 2007 he created Author Quest, a 4-day, 3 night writing camp for kids 10-13, held in June and August. Kids must write an essay to be accepted, and it is a very selective process. It is a fun but also serious writing camp. Kids from all over the country apply. Last year there were participants from Florida, California, Maryland, Colorado, Kentucky and Ohio that traveled to the camp in Michigan.

Jim JanicekExec. Producer, Writer, Director. Jim has catered to the needs of the major studios and networks for over 24 years as a programming and marketing creator / executive producer. His credits include creating and exec. producing ABC TGIF, a sitcom series brand valued at over 450 million dollars. At the time, Jim was one of the youngest exec. producers at ABC Entertainment. He continued on to create 18 Network specials, ABC’s successful “I Love Saturday Night”, and multiple ABC Kids platforms. His work in the kids creepy world includes FOX Kids promotional launch of the hit Goose Bumps series plus ABC’s launch of the new Land Of The Lost, and Addams Family. Jim is highly recognized for his expertise in reaching the highly coveted kids demos. He also recently created and produced 13 top selling titles for The Baby Einstein brand, and others with Winnie The Pooh, The Muppets, ABC Entertainment, and NBC Comedy. In addition, Jim has over 24 years of experience as a creative exec. in on-air promo for the networks ABC, NBC, Disney Channel and Hallmark and his team now handles interative and on demand entertainment for cable juggernaut Comcast Xfinity. He’s an active WGA writer and DGA director. Jim has over 3000 hours of product to his credit.

Dan Angel- Director / Executive Producer. Dan is an Emmy, Peabody and WGA award winning writer and producer who has been creating and supervising quality film and television production for over twenty years. His broad range of experience includes an extensive background in many genres from Horror and Science Fiction to branded family entertainment in all formats. He has been responsible for some of the biggest successes in both family series and long form movies over the past two decades. Currently Mr. Angel is Executive Producing two new shows for the new family network, The Hub. The first show is another scary series from the master of kid's thrillers, R.L. Stine called The Haunting Hour. To date, Dan has produced and written 44 episodes of this new anthology series with great success. The second series is called Dan Vs., which is animated and also getting great reviews on The HUB.


Paul D. GoldmanExecutive Producer. With over 20+ years of production experience, as an Ex. Producer, Producer, Line Producer & Associate Producer, shooting all over the world, Paul’s extensive list of credits continues to expand. Having just finished the Fox/ABC supernatural series, “The Gates,” which he went directly onto after 6 months in Mexico City on the mystery, “Persons Unknown,” he is now in prep on the Fox movie, “Wild Card.” Paul has previously been Sr. VP Production/Post Production for both Hearst Entertainment & Savoy Pictures, an Ex. Producer for Discovery/Animal Planet and head of Physical Production for Stargate Studios, one of the top visual effect houses in Hollywood. He has overseen hundreds of hours of production and is also a founder/ partner in his production company “Pacific Ocean Productions.”

THE AUTHOR Christopher Tod Wright (aka: Johnathan Rand) Johnathan Rand is the author of over 60 books for children and young adults, with well over 6 million sold copies. Series include AMERICAN CHILLERS, MICHIGAN CHILLERS, FREDDIE FERNORTNER, FEARLESS FIRST GRADER, and THE ADVENTURE CLUB. He is also the only author in the world to have a store that sells only his works: CHILLERMANIA is located in Indian River, Michigan, and attracts thousands of visitors year round. An accomplished motivational speaker, Rand has lectured at over 1,200 elementary schools and libraries since March of the year 2000. His message is clear: “If you can read well and you can write well, there’s no limit to what you can do in this world.” In 2007, Johnathan Rand created Author Quest, a four-day, three night writing camp for children age 10 to 13. Young authors come from across the country to attend one of these two camps held annually in June and August in the wilderness of northern Michigan. There is no other camp like it in the country. Writing as Christopher Knight, he is the author of seven adult fiction novels, numerous short stories, and nonfiction magazine articles on the topics of writing and fly-fishing. A former radio broadcaster, Wright was an air personality for 15 years and the writer/producer/performer of thousands of commercials for radio and television. Today, he continues his audio work, although it remains a fun hobby. In 2010, the video documentary November Requiem, narrated by Wright (Christopher Knight) won two Michigan Emmy Awards. Wright lives in northern Michigan with his wife and three dogs. February, March, April, and May of 2011 will see him speaking at over 100 schools from California to New Jersey.
