Floods Compilation Report per 10-11 July 2012 SITREP # 1: 16 July 2012 at 11.00 local time (UCT+7)

HIGH LIGHTS 



     

Center for Health Crisis of Ministry of Health, reported 2 incidents of floods that happened on 10 July to 11 July 2012, as follows: 1. On 10 July 2012 at 23.00 PM (UCT+7), a flood inundated 5 villages in 3 sub-districts in Pematang Siantar City, North Sumatera Province, include: Siantar Selatan Sub-district (Aeknauli and Simalungun Villages), Siantar Timur Sub-district (Kebun Sayur Village), and Siantar Barat Sub-district (Teladan and Proklamasi Villages). The water raised about 5 meters height. 2. On 11 July 2012 at 14.10 PM Central Indonesia Time (UCT+8), a flood inundated 6 villages in Satui Sub-district, Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan Province. The villages that were affected include: Jombang, Sungai Danau, Satu Timur. Sinar Bulan, Bukit Baru, and Satui Barat Villages. The water level raised about 1 to 2 meters height As per 15 July 2012, 11.00 Western Indonesian Time (UCT+7), The Centre for Health Crisis (CHC) Ministry of Health (MoH) reported that 14,036 households were threatened, 3,853 houses were inundated, 2,111 persons were displaced, 2 persons were seriously injured, and 1 person was minor injured. The Pematang Siantar DHO set up health post in the utmost flood affected areas, provided free medical services to the flood affected communities, conducted home visit, and hygiene, health and sanitation promotions. The Tanah Bumbu DHO evacuated the victims, provided medical services in Satui Health Centre and Ulin Banjarmasin Hospital, and set up Health Post in Satui Sub-district Office. The South Kalimantan Regional CHC (Center for Health Crisis) conducted assessment in the flood affected area for 2 days The South Kalimantan Regional CHC with Tanah Bumbu DHO and Satui Community Health Center conducted home visit for the affected communities to provide medical services The South Kalimantan Regional CHC has distributed 1 package of medical drugs, 50 boxes of fortified biscuit, 1 galon (15 kg) of water purifier, 15 packs of Bectaklin/water purifier, 150 sheets garbage plastic, and 3 Health Post banners The Pematang Siantar DHO, Tanah Bumbu DHO, North Sumatera PHO, South Kalimantan PHO, and Center for Health Crisis MOH are monitoring the situation closely.

The flood that happened in Pematang Siantar City, South Sumatera Province on 10 July 2012, caused by the overflow water from Bahbolon River. This was the 2nd flood that happened in this area within this month. The first flood happened on 4 July 2012. The flood in Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan Province that happened on 11 July 2012 caused by the high High intensity of rainfalls that exceeding the capacity of river’s channel, also triggered by the damaged of riverine due to mining and palm plantation, and erosion

Source: Center for Health Crisis, MOH per 15 July 2012 at 11.00 AM Western Indonesian Time (UCT+7);1) 262 HH in 5 villages in 3 Sub-districts in Pematang Siantar City, South Sumatera Province were threaten due to flood; 2)2 women were seriously injured and treated in Ulin Banjarmasin Hospital; 3)1 person affected from minor injured was treated in Satui Health Center; 4) 2,111 HH in Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan Province were displaced in several areas, include: Village Community Hall-for IDPs from Sungai Danau and Satui Timur Villages, SMPN 4 Building-for IDPs from Sinar Bulan Village, Jombang Mosque-for IDPs from Jombang Village,Islamic Boardaing of Madrasah Tsanawiyah-for IDPs from Bukit Baru Village, and surrounding neighbors’houses-for IDPs from Satui Barat Village; 5)3,853 units of houses were inundated, include: 2,240 HH’ houses in Sungai Danau Village, 1,030 HH’ houses in Sinar Bulan Village, 193 HH’ houses in Bukit Baru Village, 120 HH’ houses in Jombang Village, 120 HH’ houses in Satui Timur, and 50 HH’ houses in Satui Barat; 6)14,036 HH were threaten, include: 13,774 HH from Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan and 262 HH from Pematang Siantar City, South Sumatera Province.
