Introduction Hitachi Power Tools Australia Hitachi Power Tools Australia maintains a nationwide network of service facilities to ensure timely response to customer needs, both in supply and in after-sales service. Constant feedback from the sales, service network, and in-field testing helps our development teams create innovative tools for every user. Hitachi power tools consistently offer high levels of quality, durability and performance for full-time professionals to weekend do-it-yourselfers.

Warranty and Service Under a stringent quality control program, Hitachi power tools are without exception subject to rigid inspections and tests at each stage of processing. Parts are scrutinised for flaws by expert inspectors. Components are thoroughly tested at assembly lines to ensure optimum performance, and each finished product is carefully examined to assure Hitachi high standard of quality. The primary concern of Hitachi Koki is the convenience and satisfaction of the customer. To this end, each Hitachi power tool is carefully tested and inspected, and is covered by the Hitachi Power Tools Australia 3 Year Warranty against any defects in workmanship and materials. This applies to all tools purchased from authorised Hitachi dealers and agents in Australia, but does not apply to purchases made from an unauthorised dealer or outside Australia. For warranty terms & conditions please read the Conditions of Warranty provided with the power tool, online at www.hitachipowertools.com.au or within this catalogue on page 235.

Safety Double insulation power tools, indicated by the double square mark , can be operated without external grounding. Every Hitachi power tool is designed and manufactured considering safety and usability. Hitachi power tools are provided with various safety features like brakes, covers and clutches.

Power Input Hitachi power tools employ series motors whose modern design is based on Hitachi´s many years of experience. Unless otherwise indicated in the catalogue, power input (Watt) is based on 240V.

General Precautions 1. Read and follow handling instructions provided with the power tool and comply with all the operating instructions and warnings. 2. Never let children use the power tool. 3. Keep others, especially children, away from the tool. 4. Wear eye protection to protect the eyes. 5. Never touch blades or cutters during operation. 6. Avoid unintentional contact with the power switch when the tool is connected to a power source. 7. To ensure proper function of the tool, DO NOT remove instalIed covers or screws. DO NOT modify components and parts. 8. Prior to operation, carefully inspect the tool to ensure all the parts are properly functioning. 9. Immediately stop operation if abnormalities are noted. 10. Ensure that motor ventilation opening is kept fully open. 11. Always keep the blades and cutters sharp and clean. 12. Have the power tool inspected at proper regular intervals by an authorized Service Centre. 13. Maintain the proper care and cleanliness of the power tool. 14. Consult an authorised Service Centre for repair and/or part replacement. 15. DO NOT use the power tool for other application than those specified in the handling instructions. 16. DO NOT use the tool for work beyond it´s prescribed capability. 17. To avoid possible electric shock, DO NOT use the power tool in wet areas. 18. Ensure that the applied voltage is the same as that specified on the nameplate. 19. Ensure that electric plug is plugged into a matching receptacle that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with instruction manual, all applicable local codes, and ordinances, except for double insulated tools. 20. Ensure that the power supply is disconnected after operation. 21. DO NOT lift the power tool with the cord or remove the plug from the receptacle by pulling the cord. 22. Always handle the power tool with care. 23. Proper posture is essential for safe operation. 24. Dress properly and work in personal protective clothing, shoes and equipment. 25. Always keep the work area well lit and in good order. 26. When not in use, store the power tool in a dry place. 27. DO NOT stare into LASER beam.

Traditional Motors

In carbon brushed motors, carbon brushes contact the motor to complete the circuit and power the tool. Brushes wear and occasionally need maintenance for replacement. The mechanical contact of the brushes on the motor cause electrical loss and frictional resistance, as well as heat build-up and contact wear – all of which rob the motor of performance and decrease durability. A mechanical contact switch must be used to control the increased and decreased flow of electricity to the motor, which causes further electrical loss and wear.

Brushless Motors

In brushless motors a micro-processor controls the current flow through the motor. This means there are no carbon brushes which reduces maintenance and unexpected downtime. Due to lack of mechanical contact on the motor, minimal heat and motor wear occur. This results in vastly improved electrical efficiency and power transfer. An optical switch is used to communicate with the micro-processor, providing a more responsive variable speed actuation and wear-resistant switch assembly.

What is ACS (Active Control System)? ACS is an intelligent electronic process that works in conjunction with the Hitachi brushless motor improving performance and efficiency. The functions of the ACS varies dependant on the model. In the WH18DDL IP56 Brushless Motor Impact Driver, the ACS provides an Anti Cam-out system which reduces driver bit slippage from screw heads. Where as in the C18DBL Brushless Motor Circular Saw, when the load increases during the Silent mode, the tool will automatically switch over to the Power mode and revert back to the Silent mode when the load decreases.

Hitachi Power Tools Australia can supply a full range of high quality genuine spare parts for all Hitachi Angle Grinders, including armatures, fields, switches, gear and pinion sets and more. Hitachi Power Tools can supply spare parts for all existing and superseded models and will continue to do so for a period of five years after the model is discontinued.
