DUBAI, ABU DHABI & OMAN Experience the eclectic mix of cultures of the Arabian Peninsula ~ the shimmering, vibrant cities of Dubai & Abu Dhabi add contrast to the well-preserved traditions of Oman. UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (UAE)

THE SULTANATE OF OMAN

The UAE is a diverse union of seven emirates and in just 40 years, the capital Abu Dhabi and Dubai have grown from small traditional trading ports to sophisticated tourist destinations. Located at the crossroads between East and West, it is the best of both worlds and more than just a stopover for shopping - venture further and discover a varied landscape of stunning deserts, rugged mountains and turquoise seas.

Emerging as an exotic destination offering authentic city and desert experiences, Oman is known for its captivating natural beauty. The stunning Hajar mountain ranges, the endless desert sands of Wahiba, the seasonal green oasis at Salalah, and the breathtaking pristine peninsula of Musandam contrast with the blend of old and new in the capital Muscat, with its historic treasures and friendly people.

RAMADAN 7 JUNE – 8 JULY 2016 Often referred to as “the holy month”, Ramadan is an Islamic religious period whose duration is a maximum of 30 days. Dates change annually. During this time, shopping & business hours are often reduced. Though hotels of an international standard are usually not overly affected, there may be restrictions such as non-serving/limited service of alcohol and/or restrictions on food service during the daylight hours as well as some restrictions to entertainment. It is viewed as a sign of respect if visitors also refrain from eating, drinking & smoking in public during the daylight hours of Ramadan. A more conservative dress code should be adhered to during the month of Ramadan, especially when travelling outside of the hotels and resorts. Swimwear and items such as strapless tops & sleeveless dresses should not be worn in public places. Likewise full-length trousers & short sleeve shirts should be worn rather than shorts & vest-style tops (especially when visiting holy sites).

LANGUAGE UAE & Oman - Arabic but English is widely spoken.

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

Shopping times vary according to holidays & festivals e.g., Ramadan. We suggest if shopping is a key factor to your visit, that you check each country’s tourist office website prior to your departure.
