Introduction General information / safety instructions

Technical specifications

The mobile unit‘s switching pulses have a range of up to 1000 metres in an open space (direct visual contact). External interfering agents such as electronic noise, local conditions and dense building development of the surrounding area reduce the range. Choice and arrangement of the antenna has a decisive influence on the range. The radio remote control can be combined with the EasyStart T timer.

Mobile unit Frequency: 433.166 MHz Operating voltage: 3 V (battery) Dimensions: 70 x 40 x 15.2 mm Operating temperature: –20 °C to +60 °C Stationary unit Frequency: 433.166 MHz Power supply: 12 V / 24 V Dimensions: 76 x 76 x 29 mm Operating temperature: –40 °C to +85 °C Antenna connection via coded SMB connector.

Important! Observe the safety instructions and general information in the heater‘s documentation and in the EasyStart R operating instructions.

Installation instructions Installation The stationary unit is installed inside the vehicle together with the pushbutton and the antenna. Install stationary unit Using the screws provided, install the stationary unit in a dry place inside the vehicle, but not near the ventilation air outlets or directly next to the blower motor. Install pushbutton Install the pushbutton within the driver‘s field of vision, the preferred location is the dashboard. Drill a ø 8 mm hole, e.g. in the dashboard, then clip in the pushbutton.

Electrical connection Crimp the socket contacts onto the cable harnesses. Insert the socket contacts in the 12-pin contact housing . Push the contact housing into the cap . The contact housing must snap into place in the cap. Push the 12-pin connector (cap and bush housing ) onto the stationary unit until the lever automatically locks. (See circuit diagrams at the end of these installation instructions). Please note! Do not insert the fuse in the fuse holder.

Please note! Ensure you install the pushbutton. Operating display takes place via the pushbutton‘s LED.

Installation instructions Connect antenna Taking into account the minimum installation level, lay the antenna cable as high as possible pointing upwards. After laying the antenna cable, connect it to the stationary unit. Recommendation: The antenna should be laid behind the protective rubber in the A-pillar, in the middle above the front vehicle door. In most cases, this achieves an optimum range.

Please note! Do not change the length of the antenna cable! Ensure the unshielded end of the antenna cable does not come into contact with metal and is not completely surrounded with metal or parts containing metal.

Installation example Laying in the A-pillar under the protective rubber.

Minimum installation level at least 1.2 m

from the ground

at least 1.5 m

Installation instructions Combine EasyStart R radio remote control with EasyStart T timer Install timer Install the timer in a suitable place on the dashboard within the driver‘s line of vision and connect according to the sketch and circuit diagrams at the end of these installation instructions.

Install room temperature sensor (optional) Use the screw supplied to fix the optional room temperature sensor inside the vehicle so that the representative interior temperature is measured. Do not place the room temperature sensor within the sun‘s radiation range, near to the vehicle heater‘s outlet jets or in the footwell. Recommendation: The room temperature sensor should be installed at seat level in the centre console.

Connecting the timer to the stationary part of the radio remote control

Please note! Observe the EasyStart T timer installation instructions If the radio remote control is combined with the timer it is not necessary to install the pushbutton. After installing the push-on sleeves and flat connector, push the locking clasps onto the 9-pin push-on sleeves or flat connector housing. The readiness of a mobile unit for learning is indicated by the AddP display on the timer instead of by the pushbutton. The fuse must be removed for at least 58 seconds in order to subsequently start the teach mode. The displays of the control units are automatically aligned with each other. The heater diagnosis cable (bl/ws) must be connected.

Initial commissioning Perform initial commissioning The following steps must be performed consecutively during the initial commissioning. • Insert battery in the mobile unit Insert the battery supplied as described in the EasyStart R operating instructions, in the chapter on ”Maintenance / Replace battery“. Do not activate the mobile unit yet. • Apply operating voltage The operating voltage is applied by inserting the fuse in the fuse holder. Automatic detection Five seconds after the operating voltage is applied the LED of the pushbutton begins to light up. The radio remote control now checks which heater is connected and configures the operator prompting of the mobile unit. • Teach mobile unit When the pushbutton’s LED starts to flash the mobile unit can be taught as follows. press until the LED display lights up green. The release the key. When the connection between the mobile unit and stationary unit has been established the LED display begins to slowly flash red and green. The mobile unit is in teach mode (add). If necessary, use to select teach mode AddE. Confirm selected mode with

LED: green

LED: red-green

.

Please note! If the mobile unit is not activated within 30 seconds, the pushbutton‘s LED display goes out. The mobile unit must then be taught as described under ”Teach additional mobile unit“.

• Check radio remote control – Switch heater on and off. If an error occurs, see chapter ”What to do if …?“ from page 8.

Miscellaneous Teach additional mobile unit • Press the pushbutton installed in the vehicle until the pushbutton‘s LED begins to flash. • Activate mobile unit. press until the LED display lights up green. The release the key. When the connection between the mobile unit and stationary unit has been established the LED display begins to slowly flash red-green. The mobile unit is in teach mode (add).

Confirm the teach mode with

LED: green

LED: flashes green twice for a long time

Note on LED display – slow red-green flashing The function can be used to teach up to 4 mobile units at a stationary unit, although only one mobile unit can ever establish contact with the stationary unit. Note on LED display – very slow red-green flashing Only the current mobile unit is taught using the function. All previously taught mobile units are deleted.

What to do if …? / Service Rapid red-green flashing of the mobile unit’s LED display If the LED flashes quickly red-green after the mobile unit has been activated, check the following items. • Has the antenna been correctly connected and installed (see page 5)? • Is the antenna in its original condition (ensure the free end of the antenna has not been shortened or damaged, see page 5)? • Has the stationary unit been correctly wired (see circuit diagrams at the end of the installation instructions)? • Fuse inserted? • Can the heater be switched on and off using the pushbutton? • Is the mobile unit being operated outside its range (see page 3 ”General information“)? • Further displays are described in the chapter „What to do if …?“ from page 13 of the operating instructions.

Please note! If you are unable to remedy the fault or error, please contact an authorised JE workshop or dial one of the service phone numbers given below.
