It presents the conditions for energy security. The paper presents a method of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to determine the impact of the heat produced on the environment. In addition, the usefulness of this method has been shown to assess the energy sector. The energy sector in Poland is in the course of achieving the objectives aimed at adapting Polish solutions to the energy strategy of the European Union. The main objective of this paper is to determine the impact of electricity generation on the environment and this is an indication of the economic importance to Polish. This paper presents the assumption of Polish energy policy in the coming years. Furthermore, the article presents the results of research carried out by the method of LCA, which relate to the environmental impact of electricity generation on the basis energy sources most often used in Poland to produce electricity. Key words: energy security, economy, Life Cycle Assessment, Poland
