May 21 - 22 APUAN   ALPS   &   CINQUE   TERRE

Saturday: Departure by bus from Florence at 8:00AM for Carrara. Meet our guide for a tour of the city. Carrara is the most important center in the Italian industry for the production of marble. Free time for lunch. Proceed to the suggestive landscapes of the marble quarries to discover the favorite marble of Michelangelo. Transfer to the hotel in Monterosso - the northernmost of the Cinque Terre. Hotel check-in, then free time. Sunday: Breakfast at the hotel. Hike from Monterosso to Vernazza (the hike is about 2 hours long and not recommented for those who are afraid of heights). It is also possible to take a train from Monterosso to Vernazza. Free time for lunch in Vernazza. Transfer by train to Manarola, then free time. Hike to Riomaggiore along the famous Via dell’Amore. Departure for La Spezia by train, then for Florence by bus.

May 28 PARMA  & MODENA

Early morning departure by bus to Parma for a visit to a Parmigiano Reggiano factory, where it will be possible to follow all the steps of the production of the cheese, from milk to the finished product. Transfer to Langhirano (PR) for a visit of a Prosciutto di Parma factory. Lunch based on typical products (Parmigiano cheese, prosciutto di Parma, culatello, balsamic vinegar). Transfer to Modena for a visit to the Acetaia Malpigli, to learn about the famous aging process of Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena. Departure by bus for Florence.

May 28 - 29 VENICE

Saturday: Morning departure by train from Florence (timeTBA). Arrival and hotel check-in (Hotel Villa Rosa - Cannaregio 389). Ferry ride through the Grand Canal to San Marco, then Guided tour of Saint Mark’s Square and Basilica, the very heart of the city, sitting within the big curve formed by the lower half of the Grand Canal. Then proceed to Rialto, the oldest part of Venice - that has been hosting the Market for nearly one thousand years. Free time for lunch and for the rest of the afternoon. Dinner at the Restaurant “Ai Tre Archi”, near the hotel. Sunday: Breakfast at the hotel. Walking tour through the Jewish Ghetto - a sort of “city within the city”, and the first of its kind in history. Ferry ride to the island of Murano for a visit to a blown glass factory. Free time for lunch. Return to Venice and free time. Afternoon departure by train for Florence (time TBA).

June 11 - 12 ROME

Saturday: Early morning departure by train or bus from Florence (timeTBA).Arrival at the Vatican for a guided tour of the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter’s Basilica, with the aid of a certified tour guide. Transfer to the hotel by bus and check-in. Dinner at a typical restaurant by the hotel. Sunday: Breakfast at the hotel. Walking tour of Ancient and Baroque Rome: Colosseo, Foro and Palatino. Then proceed to Piazza Venezia, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. Free time for lunch and for the rest of the afternoon. Late afternoon departure for Florence (time TBA).

June 17 - 19 TUSCAN   MAREMMA

Friday: Afternoon departure by bus to Pitigliano, the famous town built in tufa stone, in the hinterland of the Tuscan Maremma. Transfer to Magliano in Toscana, check-into the Agriturismo and dinner. Transfer to Saturnia to enjoy a relaxing night time deep in the large natural pools of sulphurous water carved in the rocks Saturday: Visit to the Giardino dei Tarocchi, the one of a kind sculpture garden based on tarot cards, designed by Niki de Saint Phalle. Transfer to the beach at Monte Argentario. Free time. Return to the Agriturismo and dinner. Sunday: Guided tour of the towns of Sorano and Sovana with their Etruscan necropolis . (The Etruscan civilization is the modern English name given to the culture and way of life of a people of ancient Italy, residing in central Tuscany, the area currently corresponding to Tuscany and northern Lazio). Transfer to the beach and free time for lunch. Afternoon departure for Florence, estimated arrival time: 9:30PM.

June 18 CINQUE TERRE

Morning departure by bus from Florence. Arrival at La Spezia and transfer by train to Monterosso - the northernmost part of the Cinque Terre. Hike to Vernazza (the hike is about 2 hour long, and not recommended for those who are afraid of heights). It is also possible to take a train from Monterosso to Vernazza. Free time for lunch in Vernazza. Transfer by train to Manarola, then free time. Hike to Riomaggiore along the famous Via dell’Amore. Departure for La Spezia (by train), then for Florence by bus.

July 1 - 3 POMPEII,  SORRENTO  &   CAPRI

Friday: Early morning departure to Pompeii by private bus. Guided tour of the ruins with the aid of a specialized archaeologist. Afternoon transfer to Sorrento and hotel check-in. Transfer by train to the nearby town of Vico Equense, to experience the famous “pizza al metro” (pizza sold by desired length). Return to Sorrento by train. Saturday: Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by ferry to Capri and visit of the island. Return to Sorrento, then dinner in a typical restaurant. Sunday: Free time to explore the town in Sorrento. Afternoon departure for Florence. Estimated arrival time, 10:00PM.

July 9 TUSCANY  &  ITS  WINES

Morning departure by bus to Siena from Florence. Historical introduction and guided visit of the city. Transfer to the Fattoria San Donato (San Gimignano) for a visit of the cellars, wine tasting and lunch. Afternoon transfer to San Gimignano, and walking tour of this unique medieval town. Return to Florence around 7:00pm.

July 23 -24 GARDA LAKE  &  THE   GREAT   ITALIAN   OPERA   IN   VERONA

Saturday: Early morning departure by bus to Sirmione (Garda Lake). Hotel check-in and free time for lunch. Afternoon lecture on the Opera “Nabucco”, by Giuseppe Verdi. Transfer to the Arena in Verona for the Opera. Return to the hotel in Sirmione. Sunday: Breakfast at the hotel. Free time. Afternoon departure for Florence. Estimated arrival time, 9:00PM.

In order to guarantee your spot, you must pay a deposit fee when you sign up, then complete your payment by the deadline specified for each excursion. Cancellation Policy: In case of cancellation, if the cancellation is communicated to Italy Travels at least 11 days prior to the departure date, the penalty charge will equal 30% of the gross total. For cancellations that are made less than 10 days prior to the departure date, the penalty charge is 100% of the price paid. If for any reason Italy Travels cancels the program, the traveler has the right to a full reimbursement of the amount he/she has paid. Further re-compensation is forbidden. No reimbursement will be made in the case of no-shows.
