Thank you for coming to First Presbyterian Church of Orlando this morning! So glad you’re here. We worship together as a church family in four services on Sundays: Traditional worship in the Sanctuary at 8:30 and 11am, and Genesis worship in Lee Fellowship Hall at 9:45am and 11am. If you’d like to connect and learn more about this church family, someone will be available at the front of the room after worship, or you can visit fpco.org/guest.

NEXT STEP Love community? Love coffee? Stop by after worship this morning for our Second Sunday Social. Welcome our newest church members, make new friends and catch up with old ones. This morning, you can also browse our Mission Marketplace, and find unique gifts created by or supporting our mission partners, including the new Helpless Estate album. Join in, under the Angel Wing (between the Sanctuary and Allen Hall).

TODAY You may have noticed, SHINE Children’s Ministry is presenting the Nativity story with real humans and real animals, this morning on the Great Lawn. Don’t miss the fun! Stop by between services and hear the story.

Stay focused this season: don’t miss daily Advent devotions online at fpco.org/advent.

This is your last chance to be part of a First Pres holiday tradition - the Giving Tree! Bless others during this season of sharing: ornaments on our Giving Tree meet specific needs for our mission partners and families in our own communities. Stop by the Edington Ministry Center Lobby or entrance to Lee Fellowship Hall to pick up an ornament. All gifts and ornament tags are due back next Sunday, December 20.

COMING SOON More than just life and job skills training, Jobs Partnership provides career onramps for the unemployed and underemployed in our community. In January, First Pres will support the next semester of Jobs Partnership students. Volunteer roles are streamlined to give you a way to serve one night a week and see the impact of faith and work, working together. Learn more at fpco.org/jp.

NOTES

Traditional

W O R S H I P

With the lighting of another candle, the brightness increases as we approach the birth of the Savior. If we are not careful, we may be inclined to think the arrival of baby Jesus is the culmination of the season. It is so important to look at a bigger picture of what is truly happening. We are celebrating the arrival of God to planet Earth, taking on human flesh. God has come to bring redemption, healing, and restoration. The baby born in Bethlehem some 2,000 years ago lived here in a physical body. That body was crucified, dead, buried in the earth, resurrected to life in overcoming death, and ascended to heaven. Jesus’ physical, glorified body, the one born in Bethlehem, is in heaven as you are reading this! He has given the Holy Spirit to indwell us in his physical absence. Jesus is our sole worship leader at the Father’s right hand at this moment. He is our High Priest interceding on our behalf before the Father. To look at Christmas as simply “Jesus’ Birthday” misses the significance of what is truly happening. Because of the nativity and all that followed, this morning is filled with living worship. All glory to God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit world without end. Amen” - Dr. Dan Sharp (Please silence all phones and electronic devices.)
