5 Description

7 General

5.1 Formtex is a controlled permeability formwork (CPF) liner that is tensioned over or glued to most conventional types of formwork.

7.1 Formtex Controlled Permeability Formwork Liner should be specified and used strictly in accordance with this Certificate and the Certificate holder’s instructions.

5.2 The product is a two-layer, non-woven polypropylene fabric. It has a weight of 250 gm–2 and thickness of 1.2 mm.

7.2 The Certificate holder should be consulted for advice on design, and on the suitability of any proposed admixtures.

5.3 The fabric is thermally bonded on one side to create a filter, and the non-thermally bonded side functions as a drainage layer. The pore size of the filter is designed to retain the cement particles while allowing water to pass through.

7.3 The product should be correctly tensioned in accordance with section 13 of this Certificate. 7.4 This Certificate covers the initial use of the product only, and not its re-use. 7.5 Some colour variation of the concrete surface may occur.

5.4 Fresh concrete is placed and vibrated as usual, and excess water and entrapped air are drained from the concrete surface by the liner. If the liner is left on the concrete, it can be used to assist with further curing.

8 Characteristic properties 8.1 When tested in accordance with EN 965 : 1995, the product had a mean weight of 250 gm–2 and a mean thickness of 1.2 mm. 8.2 When tested in accordance with ASTM D 4533 : 1991, the product had a mean tear strength of 250 N longitudinal and 200 N traverse. 8.3 When tested to the optical method, the product had a mean pore size of
