Last week, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) granted interim authorisation for our proposed partnership with Qantas. Codeshare flights across most parts of the combined Qantas and Emirates international network are now available for sale. Australian domestic Emirates codeshare flights will also be available for sale by the end of January 2013. The Emirates partnership with Qantas still remains subject to final authorisation from the ACCC, a decision which is expected in March, as well as from other regulators. We are now working through the detail with Qantas in relation to our customer experience and loyalty programs. Below you will find a number of frequently asked questions. 1. What does interim authorisation allow us to do? Interim authorisation means that Emirates and Qantas can now coordinate on pricing, sales and capacity on certain routes (excluding services to/from destinations such as New Zealand, where regulatory approval is still pending). 2. When can I start booking booking Emirates codeshare flights flights? International codeshare services are available for immediate sale, for travel from 31st March 2013. This covers services between Australia and Asia, Australia and Dubai, and Dubai and London. Please see the below details on the additional EK flights that are now available for sale. 3. Can all Emirates fares be sold on new codeshare flights? flights?
All Emirates published and net fares can be sold on codeshare flights, subject to availability. Existing fare rules and conditions continue to apply. We are working closely with Qantas to further enhance our cooperative approach, details will be provided in coming weeks. 4. How can a customer book the new Emirates codeshare service?
Emirates customers can book codeshare flights subject to availability for travel from 31st March, 2013 through their preferred travel agent, Emirates Contact Centres and emirates.com/au.

5. What will this mean for Skywards Members? Skywards Members will be able to earn Skywards Miles and tier Miles as per Skywards programme rules on EK marketed (EK flight number), Qantas operated flights. Earning will also be available on Qantas marketed (QF Flight Number) and operated flights for travel from 31 March 2013. These flights will earn Miles at a different rate and will not be eligible for tier Miles earn. Skywards Members will also be able to redeem Skywards Miles on all Qantas marketed (QF flight number) and operated domestic and international flights. Full details will be announced shortly. Skywards tier status will be recognized when flying on both Emirates and Qantas operated flights from 31st March 2013. Further information on tier benefits such as priority check in, excess baggage, and lounge access will be communicated over coming weeks. 6. Will customer benefits be different on codeshare flights? flights? Existing Emirates benefits and polices extend to Qantas codeshare flights, such as baggage allowances. We are working with Qantas to further strengthen customer benefits from the partnership, details of which will be shared in coming weeks. 7. Are there still outstanding approvals which are needed? We are waiting for the ACCC’s final authorisation which is expected in March 2013. The ACCC’s interim authorisation currently does not extend to Trans-Tasman services, and we’re also waiting for regulatory approvals in other jurisdictions, such as New Zealand.
