Status Full Time The City of Saint Charles Parks and Recreation Department is currently recruiting for the position of Parks Maintenance Worker III - Operations. The purpose of this position is to perform skilled Park facilities and grounds, maintenance and repair tasks, under the Operation Foreman’s direction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Performs a variety of unskilled to skilled facilities construction, maintenance and repair tasks including, but not limited to: o Building and structures routine interior and exterior maintenance including: Emphasis on HVAC maintenance, repair and installation, plumbing, carpentry, metal fabrication, welding, electrical, concrete, masonry, roofing. o May assist with refuse/litter collection and disposal, restroom cleaning/supplying, sewer and sump pump maintenance, and surface cleaning and painting park amenities such as buildings, bleachers, dugouts, etc. o May assist with grounds and turf care, weeding, mowing, watering, trimming, chemical application, maintenance or change to of water systems such as mains, pumps, drinking and decorative fountains, sewage, valves, outlets, irrigation, maintenance of tables, grills, fences, gates, walks, benches, utility timers, lights, switches, etc. Operates a variety of maintenance/construction equipment such as mowers, loaders, backhoes, wood chippers, stump cutters, tractors, power tools, vehicles, communications equipment, man lifts, bobcats and snowplows. Assists in the maintenance of aquatic facilities from winterization, routine maintenance, and opening procedures Inspects and monitors Park/Playground equipment and facilities for safety. Reports damages or unsafe situations. Perform emergency repairs and/or secure area. Performs lead worker or Foreman’s duties in their absence or as directed. May be asked to serve as lead maintenance worker for 2 – 12 months. Participates in the Standby Duty Rotation Assists during emergency situations. Represents the City as required for public relations activities such as answering questions giving directions and presentations. Uses computerized work order and project management system

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions High school diploma or equivalent, College or vocational training with Certification as an HVAC Technician preferred or able to get certification within 6 months of hire. Training in buildings maintenance and/or HVAC systems installation/maintenance, electrical systems installation/maintenance, interior/exterior painting/staining methods, plumbing installation/maintenance and light to heavy equipment operation preferred. Seven to ten years public works/park maintenance and construction experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. A valid Missouri commercial driver’s Class B with air brakes preferred or must be obtained within 6 months. Certified Playground Safety Inspector preferred, may be required within 1 year. Certified Pool Operator certification preferred, may be required within 1 year.
