The Digital Marketing Coordinator will assist in the creation and broadcasting of marketing initiatives across The Salvation Army’s digital media channels. This work will contribute to brand awareness about the social and community services work of The Salvation Army and online fundraising growth. You must be well versed in both earned and owned digital media channels, have extraordinary writing experience, and are an expert in multimedia social marketing.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will work with other staff in our Public Relations department to create engaging, clever, and outstanding digital media marketing material (written, video, photos) relevant to the organizations goals; Post, Tweet, and share on Facebook, Twitter, etc. regular features, reports, and promote national events and news releases; create and lead national online programs, campaigns, and initiatives leveraging earned media channels; conduct analysis and measurement of all online channels on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis; action feedback from reports, analyses, and recommendations into concrete plans; research trends, emerging technology, and opportunities to innovate in the space; Work closely with key staff to continuously revise channel strategies and direction; Manage the “web community” by responding to issues, liaising with THQ IT on technical matters and ensuring adherence to territorial policies.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have a post secondary degree or diploma in journalism, marketing, graphic design or a related subject; Digital media / digital marketing experience (3-5 years); have proven computer skills including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Final Cut Pro or other photo/video editing software, knowledge of HTML/CSS/PHP code; know your way around WordPress, Google analytics and have experience with social media applications (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc.). The successful incumbent will be internet savvy, spend a lot of time online and stay up-do-date on the digital landscape, be an online and offline connector, and early adopter. The successful incumbent must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written); high standards of integrity, judgment and confidentiality; with a willingness to adhere to the values of The Salvation Army its mission, culture and Fundraising Code of Ethics; as well as be ready to post on digital media channels immediately in emergency disaster crisis situations. Experience in the not for profit industry and/or digital agency; passion, knowledge and involvement in the not for profit space is a huge plus; the ability to communicate in French is an asset
