Entry Level Center Manager Position with Grameen America Grameen America provides microloans to low-income entrepreneurs to start or expand their businesses and lift themselves and their families out of poverty. Our founder is Dr. Muhammad Yunus, winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize for his pioneering work alleviating poverty. Grameen America launched its first office in New York in 2008 and has since expanded its services to Brooklyn, Upper Manhattan, the Bronx, Indianapolis, IN, Omaha, NE and Oakland, CA, with plans to open in several more states. Grameen America is looking for energetic, enthusiastic and committed individuals (Trainee Center Manager) to pilot and expand our micro-loan program in the Austin branch. You will serve as Grameen America’s community organizers by helping to provide microloans to individuals who fall below the poverty line and do not have access to mainstream credit. The Center Manager role is a full-time, permanent position (40 hours per week). The position will be compensated with an annual salary plus benefits. Each Trainee will receive comprehensive training to implement Grameen America’s group lending model. Responsibilities 1. Build community relationships by recruiting, training and motivating our target population in the Austin area. 2.
Train new borrowers and verify that they meet all the requirements to enter our micro-loan program.

Develop and manage relationships with borrowers. Meet with borrowers on a weekly basis to conduct loan transactions, provide advice and counsel, and collect loan payments and savings deposits.

Maintain accurate financial records for each borrower.

Develop a flexible schedule. Center Managers set their own schedule depending on the times that are convenient for our borrowers to meet.
Qualifications Bilingual: Fluent in Spanish with working knowledge of English
High School diploma or equivalent
Basic arithmetic skills for bookkeeping on loan collections
Physically able to use public transportation; make daily visits to borrower’s homes including use of stairs
Must be living in the greater Austin area
Discipline to work independently; schedule is flexible according to availability, convenience of borrowers
Community organizing experience in low-income communities a plus
Ability to develop trust and rapport with borrower community
Eager to learn and improve
Honest, punctual and dependable
Strong communication skills and ability to sell the benefits of the borrower program
Oriented to customer service
Interested in our mission to help the poor get out of poverty
