POSITION SUMMARY: The Equity Executive will focus on increasing diversity and awareness and providing relevant equity leadership training to build capacity in cultural proficiency and educational equity. The incumbent participates in the execution of the Association’s overall professional learning and educational services activities including program development, quality control and program oversight. Performance is measured by results accomplished toward ACSA’s strategic goals for diversity, equity and inclusion, and incumbent is expected to work collaboratively, professionally across multiple groups and remain calm under pressure. This position receives general direction and position guidance from the Sr. Director of Educational Services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:     

Designs and implements new professional learning programs responding to the changing needs of school leaders; Work with staff, Committees and Councils to incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion into professional development purpose and outcomes; Improve increasing diversity in ACSA membership and leadership through intentional recruitment, retention, and outreach; Support ACSA’s involvement in providing assistance to schools and districts identified as program improvement and/or high priority; Design and conduct professional learning programs for certificated and classified school administrators;

Consults with districts, charters and members about issues and advocate on behalf of all ACSA members; Serves as committee liaison to assigned ACSA councils and/or committees and collaborate with ACSA members and staff to design new programs; Formulates and recommends to the Senior Director for approval or submission to the Board, ACSA positions regarding issues related to the leadership of learning and teaching; Assists the Senior Director in presenting educational services programs and needs of ACSA members to the ACSA Board as well as city, district, county and state officials; Evaluates, on a continuing basis, the evolving professional learning and support needed and desired by school administrators; supervises the development of long and short range plans for achieving the ACSA Board goals and provides the ACSA Board with timely, well-substantiated reports and recommendations for direction of ACSA’s educational services activities; Assists districts and ACSA educational services staff with professional learning planning; Directs development and monitoring/revision of the budget for programs assigned; Acts as liaison with community organization – such as, but not limited to: educational businesses, charter schools, McRel, WestEd; Stays informed and up to date on legislation related to areas of responsibility and provides input to Governmental Relations department of behalf of practitioners; Develop and manage the resources, timelines, and objectives of a project and apply expertise to the assignment at hand; Write comprehensive, concise and technical information in a persuasive and informative manner and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; Convey goals, objectives, and positions effectively across large audiences and work to solve problems with diverse group of people; Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions and project consequences of proposed action as well as implement recommendations in support of goals; Establish and maintain effective work relationships with members of association, the general public, other staff, and work as a team member; Research and recommend future directions for educational services programs and write grants for leadership support funding; Makes presentations to fellow staff and ACSA members regarding professional learning programs; Attends cabinet, executive staff, and department meetings as required; Performs other related duties as assigned as appropriate to the position.

Knowledge of:       

Principles and practices of no-profit organization, administration and personnel management; Budget management principles and practices and trends; Trends in education, emphases on diversity, equity, inclusion and Educational policies / practices; Quality Professional Learning Standards for professional development; Professional learning program design, in person and online, and adult learning theory; State and federal school and district accountability requirements; California and National Education Policy and Labor, employment relations and case law;

SUPERVISORIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Limited to subordinate staff as appropriate for Supervision, Performance and training / development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: EDUCATION: Master’s degree required and valid current California Administrative Services Credential. EXPERIENCE: Six (6) years of progressively responsible administrative experience of California public schools including professional learning program design, responsibility for K-12 curriculum, instruction and staff development. Recent experience in an urban setting and/or a central office position working with curriculum, instruction, and accountability issues. Must have successful School Principalship and central office administrative level experience. Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Proven record of integrity, collegiality and collaboration in working with colleagues at all levels. • Must be self-directed and have the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and complete assignments within established time frames and maintain timely documentation. • Communication skills (written and oral) to clearly, effectively and respectfully interact with diverse individuals; secure and/or provide information to clarify situations and resolve problems. • Analytical/ problem solving skills to break down complex problems into component parts, make logical conclusions, and take appropriate actions. Recognize trends, key actions and underlying issues. • Proven ability to assess issues and situations beyond 'face value' and the ability to probe beyond routine questions, identify, and resolve discrepancies in information. • Proficient with email software, web applications, enterprise software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software. • Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking and hearing in a standard office setting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to read printed materials and a computer screen with ability to adjust focus. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
