SPECIAL ISSUES

Virtual Special Issue on Spirituality, Religion, Ethics and Family Business Introduction In preparation for our forthcoming special issue on Values, Spirituality And Religion: Family Business And The Roots Of Sustainable Ethical Behavior (submission deadline: October 2018) we present a collection of inspirational articles discussing firm ethical behaviors regarding spirituality and family business, previously published in the Journal of Business Ethics. The ten articles in this Virtual Special Issue draw on two research streams: the role of spirituality on firm ethical behaviors, and ethical values and behavior in family firms. The focus in the first research stream is on the relevance of multiple approaches to investigate leadership, values, faith, and God as a stakeholder to better understand the role of spirituality in business. Some of these issues have also been highlighted in a recent special issue on Christian Ethics in Business (Journal of Business Ethics, 2007, 145 (4)). The second research stream sheds light on CSR and philanthropy in family firms, highlighting the relationships between, among others, organizational commitment and religious beliefs on ethical behavior in family firms. Our Special Issue is dedicated to deepening our understanding of how family members’ religious and spiritual beliefs shape the characteristics and behaviors of the family and the

business system, bridging the two research streams presented in this virtual special issue. Joseph H. Astrachan, Massimo Baù, Claudia Binz Astrachan, & Giovanna Campopiano Guest Editors of the Journal of Business Ethics Special Issue on Values, Spirituality And Religion: Family Business And The Roots Of Sustainable Ethical Behavior
