EU BUDGET AT A GLANCE The draft European Union budget for 2016 aims to support the recovery of the European economy and to help improve lives in Europe and beyond. The money will be invested to boost innovation, create jobs, help convergence among Member States and among regions, deal more effectively with migration and further strengthen the role of the EU as a global player (Graph 1). The total amount of the budget fully respects the maximum amounts (ceilings) as defined in the Multiannual Financial Framework for 2014-2020 (Graph 2). The priorities of this year’s budget support the key initiatives of the Juncker Commission are in line with the European Union’s long term priorities as defined in the MFF (Graph 3).
