Usability Attributes For LMSs
Evaluating the Usability of Learning Management Systems from Students' Perception: A Case Study of King Abdulaziz University Sami Binyamin1,2 , Sally Smith1, Malcolm Rutter1 1Edinburgh Napier University – School of Computing, 2King Abdulaziz University – Computer and Information Technology
Due to the rapid improvement in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), adopting technologies has become a major focus of interest in the field of education. The collaboration between ICT and education has introduced various advantages and produced new terms in such as e-learning, blended learning, virtual classes, web-based classes and learning management systems (LMS). This research focuses on evaluating the usability of the LMS at KAU. Mixed methods approach combines more than one Usability Evaluation Method (UEM) to evaluate the usability of a system.
LMSs experience a lot of usability issues.
MixedResearch methods might be beneficial to increase the Questions reliability of the findings through “Triangulation”.
Evaluating the usability of e-learning systems is considered as an important task.
Different UEMs supplement each other and provide more evidences for the findings.
Small amount of published literature on the proper evaluation of LMSs usability has been produced.

Research Justification
Research Questions 1. What are the critical usability issues of the LMS at KAU from students’ perception and explanation for these issues? 2. How can the usability of LMS at KAU be enhanced from students’ perception? 3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the LMS from students’ perception? 4. What are the statistical significant differences between students’ and different variables and the statistical correlations between usability parameters and different variables?
