Welcome to Stockport Museums This is your one stop guide to everything that is happening at our 7 wonderful museums this Winter! Get into the spirit of the festive season at one of our fantastic Christmas concerts. Enjoy one of our fabulous family events, or come along and see Bramall Hall decked out for Christmas. There are workshops for all ages and some fascinating history talks. The new millinery courses at Hat Works are inspired by personalities and styles that defne an era. Our ever popular under 5s programme is now available both at Bramall Hall and Hat Works. Sessions for families with autism are held at Bramall Hall, Hat Works and Stockport Museum. We are also very excited our exhibition - Strawberry Studios: I Am in love, is still running until 29 January 2018 ... don’t miss it!

Air Raid Shelters Stockport’s intriguing network of underground tunnels ofers visitors unparalleled insight into life in 1940s wartime Britain. When the Shelters opened in 1939, with room for 3,850 people, they were the largest purposebuilt civilian shelters in the country. An audio-guide, information panels and authentically recreated settings illustrate the thoroughness of Stockport’s air raid precautions for life on the home front. A

Explorer Tunnel Tours Going Underground

Take a tour with ‘George Formby’ as he tells of his war experiences, shares a few anecdotes and sings some of his songs. Bramall Hall Bramall Hall is one of England’s most striking black and white timber-framed buildings. Set LQDFUHVRISDUNODQGWKLVPDJQL¿FHQWKRXVH has witnessed 7 centuries of colourful history from Medieval beginnings to the present day. The hall re-opened in 2016 following £2 million restoration project and has undergone dramatic improvements to the historic rooms, architecture and fabric of the building. Hat Works The UK’s only museum dedicated to the hatting industry, hats and headwear. Visit our recreated hat factory with machinery dating back to Victorian times and an exquisite collection of 400 hats. The unveiling of the life size bronze sculpture will take place at Mount Tabor opposite the War Memorial Art Gallery.
