General Specification for Building 2012 Edition The 2012 Edition of the General Specification for Building comprises considerable updating and revisions to the 2007 Edition. The review of the 2007 Edition was carried out by the Technical Information Committee of the Architectural Services Department (ArchSD). Principal amendments and additions in the 2012 Edition include the updating of the BS Standards where applicable, further greening Specification to be in line with the global consciousness for our environment and also some updated requirements in the landscaping practice. The updating of specification is a continuous process. With the benefit of information technology, the electronic version of this 2012 Edition of the General Specification will be kept up-to-date and may be viewed on the ArchSD Homepage. In view of the revisions and new additions, there will be an introductory period of 3 months whereby the General Specification 2003 and 2007 Editions will still be the Contractual Document, whilst the new General Specification 2012 Edition may be viewed in parallel in preparation for full implementation on 19 November 2012.
Hence, for tenders to be invited on or after 19 November 2012, GS2012 shall be used; Existing contracts (including contracts using GS2003, GS2007 and its Corrigendum No. 1 and No. 2 tendered before 19 November 2012) would not be affected.
