PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT/COMMUNIQUE – SOLID EDGE TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION WORKSHOP. A forthcoming one-day “Innovation & Technology” workshop will be held here in BIUST, Palapye together with our South African industrial partners – Solid Edge Technology. . The scheduled date for the workshop will be on Tuesday 25.07.2017 at the 3D Lab, ground floor of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) from 09:00HRS – 11:00HRS. This event is being organized as part of the research initiation grant for the Complex Engineering-Design & Delivery Processes: 3D Printing Perspective Project Lab. Solid Edge Technology is a South African innovation and technology company which has been in operating for over 30 years. They are into a wide range of innovation and technology project / research activities as well as training and coaching. Solid Edge Technology has professionally trained staff with over 15 years of experience within the 3D printing industry. Thus specifically in the 3D printing sector, they deal with 3D printing software and design services using multiple technologies and 3D printing software packages, including the current state-of-the-art “Solid Edge PLM software” from Siemens as well as 3D printing materials such as PLA & ABS. Using this Complex Engineering-Design & Delivery Processes: 3D Printing Perspective Project as a conduit; Solid Edge Technology with their Siemens sponsors had agreed to install over 100 Siemens “Solid Edge PLM software” in every Faculty of Engineering design lab in BIUST. So, the installation of the software licences and also conduct a brief training on how to efficiently use them.Thus the software will start right after their industrial presentation, discussion and engagement session during the Workshop.
