Fairless launches The 25th Hour Radio Show By Michele Longworth Scene Reporter

Robert Fairless, of Karnak, songwriter and musician, is the type of person who is always trying something new and now he has begun a new radio venture. Fairless has taken his talents to the airwaves and is a co-host in a new Internet radio show called, The 25th Hour Radio Show, which airs on Blogtalkradio.com and airs live from Karnak each Sundays at 4 p.m at www.blogtalkradio. com/the25thhour1. "Well, I think I have hit

the jackpot," he said, explaining how about a month ago Fairless called a couple of his friends who are into pop culture and music and asked them if they would be on board with helping him do the show. "At first we tried to interview anybody we could. I tried the local guy down the street who owned a traveling burger trailer that he took to fairs, but he didn't

go for it," said Fairless. He said he even tried asking the local florist if she would stop by to advertise her shop, but she said no as well. "I was trying to get anybody to be a guest on our little 30-minute show. Then I thought about local bands. I thought, 'hey, there isn't anyone showcasing local talent, maybe I should try that.'" And that is exactly what has happened, Fairless and his co-hosts, Randy Ashby and Robert Reams, have interviewed local bands from Carbondale to St. Louis and have even snagged some well-known musicians and celebrities to talk, including Dr. Elmo. Now some people may not

know who Dr. Elmo is, but chances are they hear one of his most popular songs each Christmas, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. That popular song has helped Dr. Elmo to sell 11 million albums. "He is second in sales

only to Elvis Presley in the Sony/BMG library of Christmas albums," said Fairless, noting Dr. Elmo has toured with George Thorogood, Peter Frampton, Gwen Stephani and Pat Benatar to name a few.

Fairless said after he first booked Dr. Elmo he thought, 'Man, I can do this stuff.' And, Fairless said his interview with Dr. Elmo went so well that Dr. Elmo agreed do be a guest on the radio show — Continued on Page 4 —
