Workshop choices - Keep this, mail in only the the Registration/Membership Form All Day Workshhops: 10:30 - 12:30 AND 2:15 - 4:15 AD1. “Monotype Printing from a Gelatin Plate” Elizabeth Cameron, Presenter. Explore collage and painterly techniques in the versatile printmaking medium of monotype. Water-based inks will be used, and all materials will be supplied by the studio. Come with some image ideas and join the fun! All levels AD2. “ Hand-Painted Paper Collage” Peter Clive, presenter. Explore a beautiful way to make collage that goes beyond using magazines! Participants will first create hand-painted papers, and then make their collages - a wonderful creative experience. Composition and color will be discussed. Participants need to bring the following materials: Acrylic colors: Titanium White, Dioxazine Violet, Cadmium Red Deep, Thalo Green, Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Orange also #2,6,8 filberts brushes, palette knife, 10 sheets 11”x14” paper, 2 sheets 18”x24”paper, white glue, disposable palette, water containers, paper towels, soap. All Levels AD3. “Switching Dimensions” Lindsay Coats and Julianne Morse, presenters. Step out of your comfort zone and explore a new dimension of media! You will be asked to create studio works in a medium you do not typically work in – be it 2D, 3D, or Digital Arts. Sharing this experience will help you empathize, and develop teaching strategies for students who are being asked to work outside their comfort zone. It will also give you more confidence in your own studio abilities. Bring a sketchbook, pencils, and basic tools such as brushes, scissors, and masking tape. If you are thinking of going Digital, bring a laptop! Acrylic paint, canvas paper, and basic 3D construction materials will be provided. All levels AD4. “Art Advocacy and Community Involvement, One Tile at a time.” Jillian Hirsch, presenter. Learn about Freedom Square, a mosaic mural in North Central Troy, NY. This community project came together with the help of local leaders, dedicated individuals, The Sanctuary for Independent Media, and mosaic artist Isaiah Zager. Jillian will highlight how this project impacted an impoverished urban neighborhood, and will lead you through a hands-on workshop on Isaiah Zager’s mural process. Lesson plans will be included. All levels AD5. “Painting With Fiber” Liz MacBride, presenter. Explore the versatile medium of Fiber Arts to create a beautiful landscape. Bring a drawing or photo with you to work from, and ‘paint’ using wool fiber. Lesson plans will be provided for all levels, detailing the felt-making process. All Levels

AM Workshops - 10:30 - 12:30 AM1. “Outdoor Mosaics for the Whole School” Debra Hastings, presenter. A bit of mosaic inspiration and history will introduced the possibility of creating whole school mosaics for interested participants. I will share the process, examples of the nineteen exterior mosaics at Mast Way, and how to organize and coordinate both large and small scale projects. We will talk about some of the challenges of mounting the work on the building exteriors, including parent volunteers, and making a project where all children feel included. We will also discuss vendors for supplies and costs associated with the project. Then participants will have a chance to work with the square tiles to create a small sample. A materials list will be provided to assist anyone wishing to continue working with this medium. Bring a pair of rubber gloves to apply the grout and a pair of safety glasses. Elementary and middle levels AM2. “Artist in Residence: Creating Community” Emile Birch and Judy Keefe, presenters. Imagine an Artist in Residence project at your school! Emile Birch, sculptor, and Judy Keefe, art teacher, collaborate to bring you through an Artist in Residence experience with documented images and strategies to reach every students’ abilities at each step. Details of connections between students and community members working together will be highlighted. Handouts will be available. Come with your ideas, questions, and enthusiasm! Elementary and Middle Levels. AM3. “Physical Obstacle Challenge: A Reality Check” Judy Krassowski, presenter. Get ready for a very active workshop! This hands-on/ mouth-on/elbows-on/feet-on observation painting exercise is a fun way to level the playing field in a classroom environment where students bring many different expectations. Emphasis will be on fine and gross motor skills and a discussion of art language, personal and group feedback, integration of art into non-art disciplines, and stress-relief. Bring an old smock or apron and plunge into the unknown! Middle and HS levels.

Step into the role at your school of being the bearer of good news and vital information that every teacher and administrator can use! The National Core Arts Standards are in development by NCCAS: The National Coalition for Core Arts Standards. Learn about the process and the product – the new national voluntary Core Arts Standards, and how they can impact your program. Marcia McCaffrey, our Arts liaison at the NH Dept. of Education, works tirelessly to promote the arts in education. She is a vital link between local, state, and national initiatives that impact the arts in every school. All Levels AM5. “Visually Speaking” Linda Peck, presenter. This highly interactive workshop connects art and history uniquely with movement, enabling participants to explore outside their canvasses through both words and pictures. Use movement, mime, and sign to create language, interpret, identify, and express ideas from the worlds of literature and art. Bring your voice to this intriguing workshop! Elementary and Middle Levels AM6. “Community Through Clay: Before Empty Bowls and Beyond” Robin Peringer and Bethany Poulin, presenters. Clay is a great vehicle to establish a sense of community and team-building in the classroom and beyond. This hands-on workshop will include ice-breakers, team-building, and community connections that are both local and global. How to use formative assessments with clay, as well as information about the Empty Bowls and One Million Bones Community projects will be provided. Bring an apron, some clay tools if you have them, and a bowl to use as a mold form. All levels. AM7. “Photography and the Elementary Learner” Katie Poor, presenter. Engage your students with photography concepts in a meaningful way. Participants will explore ‘Painting with Light” techniques that can be brought back to the classroom. Bring white paper and some drawing materials such as crayons or colored pencils. Other photography materials will be provided, and lesson plans will be included. Elementary Level AM8. “Mimic the Masters” Lisa Rancourt, presenter. Join me for 4 tried and true, hands on lessons connecting with the Masters. Each participant will produce a teacher product for each lesson. A coordinating lesson plan will be available as we create along with Matisse, Sofonisba Anguissola, Escher & Hokusai. Elementary

PM Workshops - 2:15 - 4:15 PM1. “Zentangle Basics” Bette Abdu, presenter. Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Learn the Zentangle Method and understand how this exercise in mindfulness can improve focus, creativity, team spirit and problem-solving. All supplies are included, and come from the Zentangle Apprentice Kit (provided by Sakura of America.) All Levels PM2. “Developing Resilience through Wire Sculpture: Teaching by Example, Anecdote, and Failure.” Judy Krassowski, presenter. Experiments with wire sculpture provide an opportunity for modeling, spacial awareness , and materials estimation. Help students learn to bounce back from frustrating problems by utilizing planning, collaboration, feedback, and flexibility. These strategies can lead to an acceptable, pleasing outcome that can build confidence. HS level. PM3. “iPhoneography” Eric Moore, presenter. Turn everyday photo moments on your iphone into works of art! It’s the latest photography trend to hit full stride in the art world. Explore intriguing possibilities that allow you to be spontaneous and creative in new ways. All levels

Workshop choices - Keep this, mail in only the the Registration/Membership Form PM4. “Ekphrasis – Art based on Art” Andrew and Bonnie Periale, presenters. Taking inspiration from other works of art, Bonnie and Andrew will lead the group in a hands-on process, first in creating individual pieces, then working with a partner to transform their pieces into something completely new. After presenting everyone’s creations, there will be a discussion about how this process can be brought to the classroom. All levels. PM5. “Technology in the Art Room” Claire Provencher, presenter. Does your school have technology that you don’t understand or think doesn’t have applications for the art room? Learn the basics of how to use a computer, projector, document camera, iPad and SMARTboard to introduce and enhance your lessons. A portion of the time will be interactive use of the SMARTboard by participants. All levels. PM6. “Common Core Standards and the Arts” Debi Rapson, presenter. Be a leader in your school community by becoming an expert in connecting the Common Core standards to the arts. This workshop will include lesson plans, and discussion about how to incorporate the standards into our curriculum. All levels PM7. “East Meets West” Linda Johanson, Presenter. Bring Chinese culture to your classroom. Using traditional Chinese Brush Techniques and themes from nature, we will contrast and compare Asian/ Western philosophy and methods. Hands-on workshop.
