FAST SWIM TEAM

Westchester’s Best Technique & Training Team

The FAST Swim Team Philosophy Nobody teaches like the FAST coaching staff. We have over twenty-seven years of experience, teaching & training swimmers in all areas of swimming. We have established innovative training so that swimmers feel development and improvement after every workout. Each swimmer will be able to have a personal relationship with each coach. Our goal is for every member of our club to achieve their personal best. Each swimmer will have a chart that is analyzed during workouts. Every practice will be designed so that each swimmer at their best learning technique and speed development. Their best technique will represent the total enhanced training and style of national competitive swimmers. Coaches constantly walk, talk and demonstrate professionalism, at all times. The goal of FAST coaching staff is to teach swimming Fishlike and get each swimmer to think about their stroke at all times. FAST swimmers train to move through the water as sleek vessels sliding through the smallest “hole” in the water. We move faster by rolling the long and slippery vessel back and forth faster. Creativity is our specialty. Through creativity, the coaches will teach every member that swim practices are important. At practices each swimmer characteristics will show individual improvements. Excellence is our theme. In stroke-development, every swimmer must have excellent swim strokes. Therefore, every team member is an excellent swimmer. The importance of practices is if you participate, you will learn. The purpose of (FAST) swim team practices is to pin point weaknesses and strengths of each swimmer. This method of training conditions each swimmer to make perfectly correct stroke changes. At FAST, winners make it happen. The coaches train to prevent poor habits. The Theodore D. Young Community has an intensive training program. Dry-land training is a valuable and necessary supplement to our most comprehensive aquatic training program. A carefully planned dry-land routine includes stretching and resistive, power building exercises. That will have a direct and positive effect on swimming performances. Our dry-land program incorporates the preventive measures essential to reduction and elimination of pain and injury to highly stressed muscles and joints. Some swimmers need more specific stretching to meet their individual needs. Running and calisthenics provide an excellent foundation of general body strength and fitness. Comprehensive stretching is mandatory for all swimmers.

The strategy of the program is to learn to swim through a variety of activities. Our objective is to teach learn to swim in a fun and safe environment. We use creative lessons to improve each swimmer’s technique and strategy skills. Our coaches are committed to raising their level of coaching, as well as each team member’s education of the sport of swimming. The coaches will educate swimmers and parents so that our program will operate at its highest level. Training principles and work habits are always being challenged to improve to their highest level.
