Aim of the project Evaluate the potential for extracting and storing thermal energy from/in medium limestone reservoirs in Zealand, Denmark Working plan Assess how the Porosity, Permeability, degree of cementation and fracturing of the limestones from different locations in Zealand respond to the thermal stress due to the extraction of geothermal energy and thermal heat storage. The recovery factor of the reservoir will be calculated → ratio of extracted heat to the total theoretically recoverable heat in the storage. This information will be used to establish the best locations for utilization of geothermal

Aquifer thermal energy storage An aquifer is a saturated and permeable underground layer (sand, gravel or limestone).

energy and thermal heat storage in Zealand.

Aquifer → medium for the temporary storage of heat. Thermal energy is transferred by extracting and re-injecting groundwater from the aquifer using wells. Principle of seasonal cycling for Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (modified after Sanner and Bartels, 2009)

Heating temperature range 40 - 150°C. CONTACT Laura Paci
