February 19, 2018 PELHAM UNITED CLUB SURPRISES STUDENTS WITH VALENTINE'S DAY MESSAGES Pelham High School students arrived at school on Valentine's Day to see a wall filled with hundreds of hearts personalized with the name of every student in the school. Members of the Pelham United club devoted many hours to cutting out paper hearts and writing each student's name, along with a positive sentiment, and the hashtag #YouMatter on each of them. Students reacted with smiles and excitement as they stopped in the hall to find their heart and read the positive, affirming messages created for them. Read more in this Pelham Reporter article.

AUBURN RAPTORS VISIT STUDENTS AT PELHAM OAKS Pelham Oaks students were treated to a visit with representatives from Auburn's Southeastern Raptor Center last week. The center staff members conduct educational programs at schools throughout the Southeast, and brought several birds including owls, a falcon, and a golden eagle to Pelham Oaks. The program brings non-releasable birds on tour to provide students with a close-up view of the birds while learning about many different species and the center's rehabilitation and release program.
PREVENTION MINUTE FROM COMPACT 2020 "Prevention Minute" is an ongoing video series designed to provide parents with resources and information to help families navigate the social challenges kids face today. In this month's video, Danny Molloy with Addiction Prevention Coalition, highlights how pop culture glamorizes alcohol and drug use. He uses his personal story to encourage us to use these references as a discussion tool with our youth. Click here to view.
HARLEM WIZARDS HEADING BACK TO PELHAM FOR SECOND ANNUAL DREAM TEAM MATCH UP The World-Famous Harlem Wizards are coming back to Pelham High School on Friday, March 9 at 7:00 pm. The evening promises to be full of slam-dunks as the Wizards take on the Pelham Dream-Team with a lineup that includes teachers, community leaders, and even a few surprises! Throughout the game, fans will experience a magical display of tricks, coordinated ball handling, and amazing slam-dunks all while enjoying the Wizards high energy comedy! Jump Rope for Heart Celebration at Pelham Ridge Tuesday, February 20 Parents are invited to attend our Jump Rope For Heart Celebration during their child's PE time. Help celebrate a healthy heart and the support students have given the American Heart Association through fundraising efforts. Bring your tennis shoes and join the fun! PHS Pre-Registration Night for Current Pelham Park 8th Graders Wednesday, February 28 at 6 pm Pelham High School Auditorium PHS counselors will present information for parents of students who will be entering 9th grade in 2018-2019. Topics will include graduation requirements, course selection, and other opportunities for students entering high school. Board of Education Meeting Monday, February 26 at 6:30 pm Pelham High School Auditorium Pelham Oaks Leadership Day Friday, March 2 Parents are invited to attend and engage in leadership activities with their students. The Kindergarten and 1st Grade session will take place from 8:30 - 10:00 am; the 2nd - 5th Grade session will take place from 12:30 - 2:00. In order for the focus to remain on students, we are asking that siblings not attend the event.
