Winter Playground – 7-22 July Amuse yourself in the Winter Playground sampling the charms of the outdoor McDonald’s Bathurst Ice Rink, giant ferris wheel and House of Mirrors, open all day, every day of the festival.
House of Mirrors – A fascinating walk-through installation composed of a labyrinth of endless mirrors enchanting those that venture into them resulting in delight and amazement. The House of Mirrors features corridors of full-length mirrors, producing multiple reflections, optical illusions and kaleidoscopic like chambers – the purist and most traditional form of a mirror maze. Getting out is an art!
McDonald’s Bathurst Ice Rink – Go skating in the sunshine or under the stars on the McDonald’s Bathurst ice rink. Tickets are $5 for children (2-14 years) and $10 for all other tickets for a 45 minute session. Each session begins on the hour from 9am with the last session at 8pm. Skating aids are available for $5 each for those that may need a little hand staying upright. Lockers are available onsite and it is advisable that you bring a change of clothing for children as they may become wet from the ice.
Ferris Wheel – Get a wild perspective of the festival and Bathurst in the giant ferris wheel. Standing 23m high, this is the best place to see all the action of the playground at once. Each year the buildings of Bathurst shine during the Bathurst Winter Festival as static and interactive illuminations breathe life into the historic architecture throughout the city’s CBD. lluminations will commence at sundown each night of the festival and run until 10pm.
Delicious local food, wine and craft beers at Brew & Bite. Indulge your palate with gourmet food trucks and a purpose-built Whiskey and Gin Bar. Enjoy the moveable feast paired with a drop of an essential winter warmer from the Mulled Wine Bar.
Step into the Wild with Ignite the Night which kicks off the Bathurst Winter Festival with scents of regionally sourced food, beverages and mulled wine. Be entertained with festival favourites in the Winter Playground, live music, roving performers, a spoon full of sugar and the silent disco. As the day fades be sure to stay as the town will light up in a sea of colour with illuminations taking over the festival. Court House – The centre piece in front will be transformed through light and sound in an epic journey from the macroscopic world of single organisms into complex life forms. Court House Lane – The gateway to the Enchanted Forrest, Court House Lane will entertain through a combination of animated gifs and sound elements that will be triggered by each passer-by.
Roaming performances by fire twirling street artists will keep you entertained along with local buskers and an incredible performance by popular kid’s entertainer, Sean Murphy. Dance the night away in the silent disco, show your skills on the people’s piano and meander through the market stalls featuring luxury goods, handmade items and woolly warmers. Fernery – Wander through the forest keeping an eye out for creatures hiding between the ferns and listen to the capturing stories from our wildest imaginations.

Cathedral of St Michael & St John – Reflect on the beauty of our worlds natural wonders as the walls of the Church come to life in an abundance of flowers.

Bathurst Regional Youth Council are providing the perfect Sunday wind down with live music and food. Come along and support talented local young artists perform on the YJAM stage from 11am. Bring along a blanket, friends and family and enjoy the Winter Playground which will be in full swing. There will also be a BBQ/food stalls and sweet treats on hand to top off the day.
