Photocopiable worksheets

A photocopiable worksheet is available for each book in this series. These enable you to ensure that the children have grasped key ideas from the books. The children will need to have access to the books in order to complete the worksheets. Use the worksheets in a guided reading session, for topic-based group work or even for homework.

Instructions for the Christian Festivals worksheet:

• Children will need to have access to a current calendar, diary, or the Internet. Show them how to find the dates of the major Christian festivals. • Children should colour the days on their calendar, before listing them in the table. • Show them how to find the comparable dates for last year and next year.

Instructions for the Hindu Festivals worksheet:

• Children should use information in the book to complete the chart, where the figures are listed in alphabetical order. • Children should use the contents and index to find the relevant topics in the book. • Encourage them to find out all they can about each figure before deciding which information is ‘interesting’.

Instructions for the Jewish Festivals worksheet:

• Children should use the contents and index to find the relevant topics in the book. • Once they have identified the festival each time, ask them to cut out the boxes and put them in order during the year. Passover is the first annual festival identified.

Instructions for the Muslim festivals worksheet:

• Look at the glossary in the book to consider how it is organised. Remind children that glossaries have the word being defined at the beginning. • All of the information needed is in the book.
